QNAP launched HS-453DX, a silent NAS device that features a quad-core Intel Celeron processor, HDMI 2.0 (4K 60 Hz) output, 4K real-time transcoding, and high-speed 10GbE connectivity. The HS-453DX has a modern design and passive cooling, making it an ideal addition to living rooms and existing home theater systems. The HS-453DX also won the CES 2019 Innovation Award and the Computex d&i Award for High Quality Product Design.

The HS-453DX is equipped with a 4105GHz Intel Celeron J1,5 quad-core processor (up to 2,5GHz), 4GB/8GB DDR4 memory and two 3,5″ SATA 6Gb/s drive bays, therefore offering read/write speeds up to 677 MB/s. With two M.2 2280 SATA SSD slots (M.2 SSDs sold separately), the HS-453DX also provides a hybrid storage structure with SSD cache to boost traditional hard drives to optimize the performance of demanding applications (including media streaming applications, such as Roon Server). There's also 10GbE connectivity with a built-in five-speed 10GBASE-T port (supports 10G/5G/2,5G/1G/100M) to provide users with a storage solution that doesn't just get old.

“From TVs and game consoles to mobile devices, 4K is fully supported in the modern digital home. Due to the larger file sizes and higher file transfer rates for 4K media, home users require a suitable storage solution for a smooth multimedia experience. The HS-453DX not only features an HDMI 2.0 port for direct 4K 60Hz output, but also supports M.2 SSD cache and 10GbE network connectivity for smooth streaming and fast file transfer. With a home-friendly design and fanless cooling, the silent NAS HS-453DX is the perfect addition to modern living rooms," said Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP.

The HS-453DX model offers a wide range of multimedia applications, including: real-time dual-channel 4K video transcoding (converts videos to universal file formats for playback on various devices); Plex Media Server streams media to DLNA devices, Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Google Chromecast; thanks to Cinema28, the HS-453DX becomes a centralized home multimedia center; and OceanKTV allows you to use the HS-453DX as a karaoke machine.

With support for software-defined SSD over-provisioning on SSD RAID, the HS-453DX allows users to allocate additional space for overutilization (1% to 60%), which is beneficial for optimal write speeds and longer SSD life. The HS-453DX also offers a wide range of applications in the App Center: "IFTTT Agent" and "Qfiling" allow you to automate user workflows for improved efficiency and productivity; "Qsirch" provides full-text search for quick file searches; "Qsync" simplifies file sharing and synchronization across devices. Block support Snapshots it can also help users mitigate the potential impact of ransomware and malware attacks.
