Press Release: QNAP® Systems, Inc., a leading innovator in computing, networking and storage solutions, has introduced new QM2 PCIe Gen 3 expansion cards: QM2-2P-344A a QM2-2P-384A. QM2 cards can be installed in compatible QNAP NAS or Windows®/Linux® PCs/workstations to gain M.2 NVMe SSD slots (M.2 SSD modules sold separately) increasing system performance and storage capacity.
"The QM2-2P-344A and QM2-2P-384A cards are a cost-effective expansion solution for both QNAP NAS and PC/workstations, providing a flexible M.2 NVMe SSD configuration with easy, tool-free installation,” said Andy Chuang, Product Manager of QNAP. He adds: “Compared to SATA SSDs, PCIe QM2 provides more bandwidth for faster data transfer and access. "
The innovative QM2 cards are equipped with thermal sensors that allow real-time monitoring of the M.2 SSD temperature and an efficient cooling module (heatsink and smart fan) to minimize overheating and ensure high performance. They can be used to configure SSD cache for IOPS-intensive applications. They also allow you to create tiered storage in the QNAP NAS, which optimizes the use of storage space.
The QM2-2P-344A and QM2-2P-384A cards support Windows and Linux operating systems and are ideal for creating NVMe SSD storage volumes for performance-intensive applications such as video editing.
