In the demo hall in the Steve Jobs Theater, dozens of journalists from the world's most important media had the opportunity to see what will be on store shelves in a few days. In addition to iPhones, journalists could of course also try the brand new Apple Watch Series 4, which brings not only a new design and a larger display, but also at least two really amazing functions.
The lucky ones who have already held the new Apple Watch in their hand say that when you look at it, you will notice, in addition to the larger display, that it is thinner than the previous generation. Although the watch is thinned on paper only from 11,4 mm to 10,7 mm, but according to journalists, it is noticeable even at first glance and the watch simply looks better on the hand. Unfortunately, the editors weren't able to try their own straps from the third series, but Apple warned us that backwards compatibility is a matter of course.
The design change is on the front of the watch, but also on the bottom, which now also hides the sensor, which, in combination with the sensor in the crown, is used to measure the ECG. Apple also took care of the underside, which looks really cool and is a piece of jewelry that we don't see very often. The lower part is also more durable and offers a combination of ceramic and sapphire, thanks to which there should be no risk of breaking the glass protecting the sensors, even with a harder fall.
Another novelty in terms of design is the digital crown, which offers a new haptic response. Thanks to it, scrolling through the menu is much more comfortable and pleasant, and the crown really makes you feel the realism of the movement on your own skin. Even though it's only digital, it feels similar to your wind-up watch. In addition, it surpasses its predecessors not only in functionality but also in design and processing.
Overall, journalists praise the Apple Watch, and according to them, the large display gives completely new possibilities, not only for applications from Apple itself, but especially for developers, who can start using it in a completely new, more comprehensive way. Apps like Maps or iCal are finally real equivalents of their iOS versions and not just add-ons. So we can only look forward to the first time we touch the new Apple Watch in our editorial office.
