The debates surrounding the iPhone 4 antenna problems are endless. Apple recently held a press conference and offered a free case. The sales numbers of this new product are still impressive. But there are still other speculations that Apple will still make modifications to the existing model. So the software trick to fix the signal display didn't work very well.
Mexican mobile operator Telcel started selling the iPhone on August 27. According to his reports, the new device will be available from September 30. It will pass the hardware revision and should not suffer from signal reception failure. The release date coincides with the end of the free packaging giveaway.
It is not at all certain whether Apple will modify the existing antenna of the iPhone 4. But if it happens, the company can expect a series of lawsuits from its customers.

I somehow don't understand the problems with the antenna. I own an iPhone 4 and I haven't noticed any problems, on the contrary, the signal has improved
This took me from full signal to "no network" when I held it in my left hand.
I wonder. I personally tried it on two iPhone 4s that were displayed by t-mobile in stores and both had a visible loss of signal (may I have more body resistance?). One in Brno and one in Prague. That was also the reason why I avoided the iPhone 4. I will not buy something that has structural defects, already from production.
Why should Apple face lawsuits? He gave people the option to return the phone if they were not satisfied - or am I wrong?
A few days after the first mentions of problems with the antenna appeared in the media, a class action lawsuit began to be prepared in the USA. If Apple makes changes to an existing model, it will admit that there is a problem.
The phone can be returned within 30 days of purchase.
Will he admit that there is a problem? They probably already admitted that on the press release, didn't they?
I still don't understand the reason for the lawsuit. After all, no one forced those people to buy it. And if they found out after the purchase, they had the option to return it, so where is the problem?
Apple's first reaction was: you're holding the phone awkwardly, hold it differently. Not an iPhone 4 problem. Another excuse was a signal indicator software bug.
On the press they resembled a smart burner: they said/didn't say about the signal problem with the iPhone 4, they showed it on other phones. They reacted relatively late and thus created hype around it. They tried to seal the mouths of customers with a rubber cover.
The fact that the problem is inflated by the media is another matter.
You can always find a reason to sue, the Americans are specialists in this. Google the term: "American curious lawsuits". Why do you think the instructions say not to dry the cat in the microwave?
I don't think there will be a new revision of the HV, I will add the Bumper directly to the package.
and not sure whether those 30 days can be applied to the 3GS as well?
It depends where you bought the phone. In the US, there was a fee for the 3GS, but they didn't charge it for the iPhone 4.
well, I bought (was bought from me) at VF for full price 3 weeks ago
I recommend reading/studying the terms and conditions (withdrawal from the contract, complaints, returns) at Vodafone.
Well, I notice some problem with the antenna, it's not a bad antenna, it's an inappropriate location, because when a person covers the antenna. on any phone with your whole palm, it will affect signal reception, always. But the problem only manifests itself in places with a weaker signal, I have it that way at work (shoulder building below ground level), at home it's fine. I notice it most often on 3g reception, that it is lost even on the edge, when the page has to stop loading and I have to pick up the phone in another way. Unfortunately, this does not show up in the call. I don't have the cover. I use t-mobile.
Just to confirm what bronczek wrote to the man, I have exactly the same experiences.
I'll take it from the beginning. So, when I brought my iPhone 4... the first thing I did right after connecting it to the PC... was that I drooled my fingers... and connected the aluminum circuit - or the artificial material that interrupts it... that's exactly what the antennas of the blue zubu -wifi - and they didn't short-circuit the mobile phone.
I'm waiting waiting..nothing. So I took it into my hands - I'm waiting, I'm waiting - nothing. So I took it to both and almost lay down on it - wait wait - nothing.
So where is the problem? I'm from the South Bohemian region, I've never had a problem with the signal here, and it's already clear that when the iPhone 4 has much stronger antennas, I won't have it at all.
And for another problem with the antenna, if you have one, a simple bumper on the iPhone will solve it for you - you already know how difficult the action from Apple is - the bumper will be delivered by the end of September. That's actually the solution. With a bumper, you won't short-circuit the antenna with sweaty hands.
Another thing. In America, AT&T has always been in trouble, the technology is outdated, which is not the case here. The last US operators are already looking forward to the fact that they will be able to have subsidized Apple products as well, since they already have better things than "ATčko" and have better coverage.
I wouldn't make an unnecessary bubble out of it here :)
I don't think it will be a "short circuit" (galvanic connection) of both antennas.. I have a film from ZAGG stuck on both antennas, so direct contact with the skin is excluded and I will make 5 out of 3 lines with one finger. Yes, but be careful - the problem is only with the 3G network. As soon as I turn off 3G, the signal does not move - still full 5! I tried in the block of flats on the 4th floor of 4 - north of Brno. I've never had a call drop because of a signal. O2 operator.
I don't use 3G, so I can't judge. But otherwise, with a normal signal, I see that you don't have a problem either.
PS: also an O2 operator
Well, since I'm already in a place covered by a 3G network, I thought I'd try to use it - the 1mbit can sometimes be felt, but I prefer reliability over speed, so 3G is turned off and I don't have a single problem.
I described the behavior of the iP4 when holding the antenna, but I didn't say that it bothered me that much... The signal was always weak at work, and with this phone at least I know how not to hold it, which I didn't know with the previous ones ;-) I ordered the cover from Apple and I'm waiting for it, but not because of the antenna, I just want it for work, so that I don't lose my camera when I put my phone on a spindly, metal table. I love my iP4 and I don't know a better phone. I also kept all the old 3Gs, I don't want to sell it to anyone, I only had it for 8 months and I immediately switched to a 4, I'm crazy ;-)
What kind of fool? You are simply a satisfied customer! Aren't people who have been buying cars of the same brand for the last 20 years idiots? No, they're just happy ;)
This bronczek:
I wouldn't say crazy, just a proper fan and iPhone lover ;-)
Otherwise, I'm also already saving up for an iPhone 4 and if there were no problems with the antenna at all, that would be great!
Does anyone know, please, how long it takes for Apple to deliver a bumper?
I already have it at home. I ordered on the day of the article that deals with it here.
Nope, it was the watch, not the bumper, I was confused by the LA, CA post office info.
After completing the order, they wrote that it would be delivered in 4-6 weeks, so maybe something like that. :-)
I completely agree with Xenon... I live in Pilsen, I work in Prague, and while testing the iPhone 4, I did not encounter a problem with signal strength in any city (I tried all three operators), and there was no problem even in places where there is usually almost no signal, the phone only lost signal when I put both hands on it, but now, gentlemen, tell me, which of you calls or uses the phone like this...? I don't think anyone really. It gives me a lot of wrinkles that all speculations regarding signal problems are 99% based on articles written by American journalists, and let's be honest, not even 1 in 100 of them have ever held a phone in their hands... So what weight do these testimonials have? Zero. Simply put... there really was a problem with the signal here, but it only concerned users in the US with the AT&T network, as American users complained, and since I have confirmation from a friend that with a Czech T-Mobile SIM card in the US on an American T-Mobile there really isn't a problem and the signal is perfectly fine... so the fact is that the main problem was in the AT&T network, which has a sovereign agreement with Apple, and that's why Apple reacted the way it did... I don't see any other reasonable explanation here... and that someone in the Czech Republic will say , that his signal drops out when he hugs the phone, so that's de*** for me, because you can't even use the phone like that. And it's really clear that if you cover the antenna of any phone, it will lose signal. I don't want to offend the author of the article, but if he wants to publish such an article, he should have 100% tested the "signal loss" itself and only then write about the given topic... I think then the article would look completely different... but that's just me personal opinion, because I really had the opportunity to test ;-)
I must say that the weakening of the signal, or I only noticed a slowdown in data connections. The problem is that you usually hold the mobile phone in your left hand, while you use your right hand to type or control. But that it would be somehow dramatic? Mushrooms? Not knowing about it in advance, so I won't figure it out. When I download e-mails or new software, I'm very careful.
That club:
Unfortunately, I do not agree with you! Your signal could have dropped, but thanks to the dashes on your mobile phone, you didn't have to recognize it, because Apple's updated software masked it a bit and the signal dashes don't drop as much! One of the most reliable indicators of signal loss is connecting to the Internet and watching some speed meters. There you will find out how you like it and how it doesn't. Otherwise, I tried "death touch" in the Czech Republic and the commas did not get below less than two (Vodafone operator). I also tried it in England. With the T-mobile operator, the signal didn't even budge, and with Vodafone it dropped to a maximum of two lines.
Otherwise, I agree with you that this whole problem is greatly inflated by American journalists and the disastrous network there.
But it would be amazing if Apple redesigned the iPhone 4 and the "new generation" did not have this deficiency from September 30 ;-)
I am happy to read that there are people who have no signal problem with the iPhone 4. I have a problem in Prague 8, the message about the loss of mobile signal sometimes appears even when I am not holding the phone at all. These losses are momentary, within a few seconds there can be 4 lines again. If I forget and take the iPhone 4 by the bottom while making a call, the signal is gone in three seconds.
We also have an old iPhone 3G in the same place and it doesn't do these things.
I have a problem with the signal on my 3GS, such that the iP4 would probably be golden against it. For example, I had it lying on the table, connected as a modem to a Macbook, it was sucking data from VF, and within a minute I could observe the signal change from full to minimal. And when it does it for me within the range of the 3G network and constantly jumps between classic and 3G, it's really worth it. :-) So it's already in service and I hope to get a new piece. I will then offer it to someone. Anyone want a new white 3GS 32GB? ;-)
.. I have had an iP4 since the first day it was sold here, and I have no problem with the antenna (signal loss). On the contrary, it catches the signal better than iP 3G, which idles at home and better than various HTCs, Samsungs and Nokias with which I have been compared by colleagues at work. The signal catches even in notorious places where the signal has never been and for other phones it still isn't there, which is a pleasant surprise. I tried, and I also know, the "magical dead grip" and no matter how hard we tried, I couldn't kill the signal. he's talking, I have experience every day and it's just the opposite..
When I have, for example, 4 lines of signal on the iP3, the signal usually increases when I pick up the phone... so I must have some kind of miraculous hands or something? .-) or did I succeed in a miracle? .-) probably not.. I take it simply: as long as everyone calls me and I call them, I don't deal with it.. I hold the phone as I think - I don't think about it.. I carry it in the Crumpler case in which I used to have 3G, no foils, no packaging - no scratch.
So, in conclusion, my own experience: : iP4 is an elaborate phone with a luxurious, trouble-free operation and a magical display.. I don't regret even a penny.
