Since the first launch of the original iPad in 2010, the docking connector of this device has been located on the bottom side under the Home button and thus orients the iPad vertically. The rumors that circulated before the release of the first tablet from Apple were really full, but they indicated that the iPad could also have a second connector, which would be designed for landscape orientation...

At the time, these speculations were greatly supported by many patent applications that related to this location. Apple engineers probably planned an iPad with two docking connectors, but in the end, in order to maintain simplicity and design purity, they backed away from this idea. However, photos from 2010 suggest that Apple has at least built a prototype of such an iPad.

Further confirmation of these long-standing speculations is the fact that a 16 GB "original" generation iPad has now appeared on eBay, which, according to the photos and description, has two docking connectors.

The offered iPad is almost fully functional, but it would need minor corrections in the area of touch recording. Of course, it is possible that the second connector is fake or made with the help of handy tools and spare parts, but the extensive documentation included rather suggests otherwise. Some parts have older markings than parts of the original iPad. Additionally, the device includes Apple's diagnostic software, which suggests that it could be an actual prototype.

The device lacks the iPad inscription on its back. Instead, it has the prototype number stamped in the given places. The starting price of the offered piece was 4 dollars (approximately 800 crowns) and the auction ended today. The prototype sold for more than 10 dollars, which translates to roughly 000 crowns.
