In recent years, so-called flexible phones have been a huge trend. They bring us a different perspective on the possible use of a smartphone, as well as a number of benefits. Not only can they be folded and hidden in an instant, but at the same time they offer two displays, or when unfolded they can be a significantly better partner for work or multimedia thanks to the larger screen. The current king of the segment is Samsung with its Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models. On the other hand, other manufacturers don't think twice about flexible phones.

There have already been several speculations and leaks in Apple circles that clearly talked about the development of a flexible iPhone. There's really nothing to be surprised about. When Samsung came out with its first pieces, it gained a lot of attention almost immediately. That's why it's quite logical that Apple at least started toying with the same idea. But flexible phones also have their shortcomings. Undoubtedly, attention is most often drawn to their greater price or weight, while at the same time it is not even a suitable option for beginners in general, because the actual use of these phones may not be completely comfortable. If you're hoping that Apple can fix these issues (probably aside from price) in the near future, then you might be wrong.

Apple has no reason to experiment

Several factors play against the early introduction of a flexible iPhone, according to which it can be concluded that we will not see such a device so soon. Apple is not in the position of an experimenter who would venture into new things and try their luck with them, on the contrary. Instead, they stick to their ruts and bet on what simply works and what people keep buying. From this point of view, a flexible smartphone with a bitten apple logo would not work. Question marks hang not only over the quality of the processing of the device itself, but above all over the price, which could theoretically reach astronomical proportions.

But we will shed light on the most fundamental reason only now. Although Samsung has made huge progress in the field of flexible phones and today already offers three generations of its two models, there is still not that much interest in them. These pieces are mainly preferred by the so-called early adopters who like to play with new technologies, while the majority of people prefer to bet on tried and tested phones. This can be seen perfectly when looking at the value of used models today. As is generally known, iPhones in many cases hold their value better than competing Android phones. The same applies to flexible phones. This can be seen perfectly when comparing the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 and the iPhone 12 Pro. Although both models are the same age, at one time the Z Fold2 cost more than 50 crowns, while the iPhone started at less than 30. And how are the prices of these pieces now? While the 12 Pro is slowly approaching the 20 crown mark, the Samsung model can already be purchased below this mark.

One thing follows from this - there is not that much interest in "puzzles" (yet). Of course, the situation may change in favor of flexible phones over time. Fans often speculate that this entire segment would be significantly strengthened if one of the technological giants began to fully compete with Samsung with its own solution. In this case, competition is extremely beneficial and can push imaginary boundaries forward. How do you view these phones? Would you rather buy the iPhone 12 Pro or the Galaxy Z Fold2?
