Over the last few years, mobile phone photography has gone from being a fringe issue to the most frequently used method to capture interesting scenery. This was largely due to the increasing quality of the cameras built into smartphones and the simplicity of the software, thanks to which virtually anyone can take pictures today.

The most frequently used device for photography is the iPhone, which was also used by the organizers of the competition called iPhone Photography Awards, which focuses on photos taken by smartphones from Apple. During the course of yesterday, the winning films of the 12th edition were announced and it must be noted that some of them are worth it. In addition, the Czech Kamil Žemlička, who made a name for himself with his panoramic picture, also received a certain kind of recognition.
The highest prize (so-called Grand Prize) went to 23-year-old Gabriella Cigliano from Italy, thanks to her photo "Big Sister", which was taken on an iPhone X in Zanzibar. First place went to Portugal's Diogo Lage with "Sea Stripes" shot on an iPhone SE at Santa Rita Beach. The photo "Sorry, no movie today" (Sorry, there will be no movie today) took second place, the author of which is the Russian Yuliya Ibraeva, who took the photo on an iPhone 7 Plus in Rome. And third place went to Peng Hao of China for his "Come Across" shot on an iPhone X in the Nevada desert during a sandstorm.

Recognition also goes to the Czech Republic
The iPhone Photography Awards is a prestigious photography competition. We can be all the more proud that we will also find a Czech footprint in this year's edition. Kamil Žemlička from the Czech Republic, who impressed the jury with his panoramic image, also received an honorable mention. Kamil appeared in the competition for the second time – last year he was the only Czech to succeed with three of his photographs, two in the panorama category and one in the nature category.
I hope that everyone who had the balls to send a photo there won. In most cases, these photos are no miracle. But I understand that different people will have different opinions. Too bad I didn't know about it, I would have applied. Ps: I originally wanted to write that it was strange that no lgbtq+-*/ campaign won.
