DJI, the global leader in the civilian drone market, presents the DJI Mini 2. It is the second generation of a quadcopter, which, thanks to its weight compressed below 250 grams, avoids the necessary registration (in a matter of months, this obligation will also affect the Czech Republic). Although it is the lightest and cheapest aircraft from DJI, a rich array of sensors and technologies has been put on board.

Evolution and sophisticated onboard systems

The priority during the development of the DJI Mini 2 drone was safety. Thanks to the advanced image capture system and integrated GPS, it manages to return to the starting point - whether when the signal is lost or when the on-board computer calculates based on the weather situation that the battery is running low and it is time to return.

Compared to the first generation, the "Two" is better in every way. In the controller's communication with the aircraft, the wireless technology was changed from Wi-Fi to OcuSync 2.0. This is a standard created specifically for drones and means a more stable connection, higher transfer rates for video, but also a doubling of the maximum range to up to 10 kilometers (however, it must be remembered that the law tells the pilot not to let the drone out of sight).

The maximum flight length jumped to a great 31 minutes, speed from 47 to 58 km/h, maximum flight height to 4 km and wind resistance from level 4 to level 5. A completely new dimension is opened by the gimbal-stabilized on-board camera. One thing is the intergenerational shift in video resolution from 2,7K to full 4K. However, the developers emphasize that the image quality has also improved in the same way. You will also like the new ability to save photos in RAW format, which will allow advanced editing.

Even a beginner needn't be afraid

The features that make flying a drone accessible even to absolute beginners are great. Service mobile application DJI Fly (compatible with both iPhone and iPad) includes the feature Flight Tutorial, which will explain the very basics of working with a drone. DJI Flight Simulator instead, they will teach you to fly in a virtual environment. The advantages are clear - the crash on the computer screen does not cost a penny, while the physics and reactions are completely faithful, so you can then switch to a real drone with a clear conscience.

Apple perfection and Czech prices

A certain inspiration can be seen in the products of the DJI brand with the qualities that are typical of Apple. Whether it's a clean design, uncompromising functionality, or perfect reliability. And it's not just an impression, because DJI and Apple are partners. This collaboration also means perfect compatibility with iPhones and iPads.

Right after Thursday's premiere, the news starts selling in the Czech Republic as well. The basic DJI Mini 2 with one battery and a pair of spare propellers costs CZK 12. However, more experienced pilots have become accustomed to the richer Fly More Combo at DJI. For an additional fee of 999 crowns, you will receive three batteries, three pairs of spare propellers, a 4° cage that protects the rotating propellers during flight, a charging hub, a powerful charger, a practical backpack and a number of other small items.
