Earlier this week, Fortune magazine published a ranking of hundreds of products it says are the best designs of the modern era. The ranking includes not only hardware, but also software products. Apple products occupied several places in this ranking.

The first place in the ranking was occupied by the iPhone. It - as we well know - saw the light of day for the first time in 2007, and since then it has undergone a number of changes and improvements. At the moment, the latest models available are the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. According to Fortune, the iPhone has managed to become a phenomenon over time that has changed the way people communicate and has an impact on almost every aspect of our lives. The device, which - as Steve Jobs said at its launch - combined an iPod, a telephone and an Internet communicator - quickly became a huge hit, and Apple managed to sell more than two billion of its iPhones.

The first Macintosh from 1984 was also ranked in the second place. The first Macintosh revolutionized personal computing, according to Fortune. In addition to the Macintosh and the iPhone, the Fortune ranking also included the iPod in tenth place, the MacBook Pro in fourteenth place and the Apple Watch in 46th place. However, the ranking also included "non-hardware" products and services, such as the App Store online application store or the Apple Pay payment service, which ranked 64th.

The ranking of products with the most significant design was created in cooperation between Fortune and the IIT Institute of Design, and individual designers and entire design teams participated in its compilation. In addition to Apple products, for example Sony Walkman, Uber, Netflix, Google Maps or Tesla Model S were placed in the ranking.
