Intel's Skylake processors finally got a successor. Intel called the seventh generation of processors Kaby Lake, and the company's CEO Brian Krzanich officially confirmed yesterday that the new processors are already being distributed.

This "distribution" means that the new processors are already going to computer manufacturers for companies like Apple or HP. So we could expect new computers with these processors by the end of the year.

However, "already" is not quite appropriate in this case, because the new processor is quite significantly delayed, which is also the reason why the new MacBook Pro we wait so long. As a reminder, the last changes came to Apple's professional laptops last March (13-inch Retina MacBook Pro) and in May (15-inch Retina MacBook Pro). The reason for the delay this time was the complex struggle with the laws of physics during the transition from 22nm architecture to 14nm.

Despite the new architecture, Kaby Lake processors are not smaller than the previous Skylake generation. However, the performance of the processors is higher. So let's hope that the MacBook actually arrives in the fall and that it arrives with the latest processors. In addition to higher performance, the new MacBook Pro it also expects a completely new design, modern connectivity including USB-C ports, a Touch ID sensor and, last but not least, a new OLED panel that is supposed to replace the function keys under the display.
