Vratislav Holub At the end of 2021, Apple introduced the expected AirPods 3rd generation headphones, which received a rather interesting design change and a few new functions. The Cupertino giant brought their appearance closer to the Pro model and gifted them, for example, with support for surround sound, better sound quality and adaptive equalization. Despite this, however, they did not meet with such success as the previous generation and thus ended up as a loser in the finals. But why didn't the third generation get the kind of recognition that the second generation could be proud of?

Worse, however, is that quite possibly the same reasons will haunt the expected successor to the AirPods Pro. Apple thus faced a rather fundamental problem, the solution of which will take some time, but only practice will show us the real result. So let's shed some light on what went wrong with the current AirPods and what the giant could at least help with a little.
AirPods 3 are a flop
At the outset, however, it is appropriate to mention one relatively important fact. AirPods 3 are definitely not bad headphones, on the contrary. They boast a modern design that fits perfectly into the Apple portfolio, offer good sound quality, modern features and most importantly work well with the rest of the Apple ecosystem. But their main problem is their previous generation. As mentioned above, it met with great popularity and was enthusiastically received by apple growers. They practically made it a sales hit. This is the first reason – AirPods have expanded considerably during their second generation, and for many users it may not make sense to switch to a newer model, which does not bring so many essential innovations.

However, what has been quite possibly the worst for Apple is the current range of Apple headphones. Apple continues to sell AirPods 3 alongside AirPods 2, at an even lower price. They are available in the official Online Store 1200 CZK cheaper than the current generation. This again relates to what we mentioned above. In short, the third series does not bring enough news for most apple buyers to be willing to pay extra for them. In a way, AirPods 2 are the main culprit of the current situation.
Is Apple expecting issues with AirPods Pro 2?
That is why the question is whether the Apple company will not encounter exactly the same problems in the case of the aforementioned AirPods Pro 2nd generation. The currently available speculations do not mention that Apple is planning any kind of revolution, according to which we can conclude only one thing - we will not see much fundamental changes. If the speculations were true (which, of course, they may not be), it would probably be better for Apple to withdraw the first generation from sale and only offer the current one. Of course, we do not know whether such problems will really appear in the Pro model, and perhaps Apple will pleasantly surprise us.
