Apple Watch has been with us since 2015 and has seen a number of great changes and gadgets during its existence. But we won't talk about that today. Instead, we will focus on their shape, or rather why Apple opted for a rectangular shape instead of a round body. After all, this question has troubled some apple growers practically from the very beginning. Of course, the rectangular shape has its justification, and Apple did not choose it by chance.

Although even before the official introduction of the first Apple Watch, when the watch was called the iWatch, practically everyone expected it to come in the traditional form with a round body. After all, this is how the designers themselves depicted them on various concepts and mockups. There is nothing to be surprised about. Practically the vast majority of traditional watches rely on this round design, which has proven itself to be probably the best over the years.

Apple and its rectangular Apple Watch

When it came to the performance itself, apple lovers were quite surprised by the shape. Some even "protested" and blamed the design choice of the Cupertino giant, adding hints that the competing Android watch (with a round body) looks much more natural. However, we can notice the fundamental difference quite quickly if we put the Apple Watch and a competing model, for example the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, next to each other. But that's about the end of it.

If we wanted to display, for example, text or other notifications on them, we would encounter a fundamental problem. Because of the round body, the user has to make a wide range of compromises and simply put up with the fact that significantly less information will be displayed on the display. Likewise, he will have to scroll significantly more often. They don't know anything like the Apple Watch at all. On the other hand, Apple opted for a relatively unconventional design, which ensures 100% functionality in practically all situations. So if the Apple user receives a shorter text message, he can read it immediately without having to reach for the watch (scroll). From this point of view, the rectangular shape is, simply and simply, substantially superior.

We can (probably) forget about the round Apple Watch

According to this information, it can be concluded that we will probably never see a round watch from the workshop of the Cupertino company. Many times in the discussion forums there have been pleas from the apple growers themselves who would appreciate their arrival. As already mentioned above, such a model would clearly offer a great and above all more natural design, but the functionality of the entire device, which is directly crucial in the case of a watch, would decrease.
