Why the iPhone can't be a full-fledged gaming phone

The world of mobile gaming is constantly growing. Moreover, this is not just a trend of recent years - simply remember how we all played snake for long hours on old Nokias, trying to beat the highest score achieved. But smartphones have brought significant changes to this area. Thanks to the better performance of the phones, the quality of the games themselves has improved remarkably, and in general, the individual titles have moved several levels forward. Apple's iPhones are also doing great. Apple achieved this thanks to the use of its own A-Series chips, which offer first-class performance combined with energy efficiency. Despite this, Apple phones cannot be considered gaming pieces.

But let's shine a light on gaming on mobile phones in general for a moment. In recent years, it has moved forward so much that manufacturers have started to create special smartphones with a direct focus on playing games. For example, Asus ROG Phone, Lenovo Legion, Black Shark and others belong to this group. Of course, all these models run on the Android operating system.

It won't work without cooling

We mentioned above that iPhones can't really be considered gaming phones, although they offer first-class performance and can handle practically any game with ease, they have their limitations. Their primary purpose is clear and they certainly won't find games in this direction - rather, they can be taken as a possible spice to diversify free time. On the other hand, here we have directly gaming phones, which, alongside a powerful chip, have a sophisticated system for cooling the device, thanks to which the phones can operate at full power for a significantly longer time.

Personally, I have encountered a situation many times while playing Call of Duty Mobile where overheating was responsible. After playing more demanding games for a long time, the brightness may drop slightly out of the blue, which you can practically do nothing about. This situation happens for a simple reason - since the chip is running at full speed and the device is heating up, it is necessary to temporarily limit its performance in order for the iPhone to cool down reasonably.

Because of these situations, an interesting opportunity has been created for accessory manufacturers. If you own an iPhone 12 and later, i.e. a MagSafe-compatible Apple phone, you can, for example, purchase an additional Phone Cooler Chroma fan from Razer, which "snaps" to the back of the phone via magnets and then cools it when connected to power, thanks to which gamers can enjoy completely undisturbed gameplay. Although the arrival of a similar product surprised some Apple users, it is nothing new for the owners of the aforementioned gaming phones. For example, when the current Black Shark entered the market, at the same time the manufacturer introduced practically the same cooler, which pushes the device significantly further in the field of gaming than Apple phones - it already has a better cooling solution, and if we add an additional fan, it definitely we won't spoil anything.

AAA titles

Some mobile players are also calling for the arrival of so-called AAA titles on mobile devices. Although today's flagships offer performance to spare, the question remains whether they would be able to cope with such games in the final, or whether they would even be able to cool them down. However, there is no clear answer yet. So for now, we'll have to make do with what we have.
