Pre-sales of the new 24″ iMac (2021) with the M1 chip start today. Apart from what you can read about it on the Apple website and the details we brought you in individual articles, Colleen Novielli and Navpreet Kaloty also talked about it. They did so in a podcast Upgrade to Relay FM. And there were questionable "white" frames. Both performers podcast we could also see it at the presentation of the new iMac. Colleen, senior product marketing manager for Mac, introduced it in its entirety, Navpreet, engineering program manager, then talked about his camera, microphones and speakers in particular. Even though we By Navrpreet met for the first time Colleen we could already see it at WWDC 2019, where it introduced Pro Display XDR.

Colors first

Why does this year's iMac play with all the colors? Colleen v podcast she explained that it was simply because the time was ripe. In addition, individual shades are designed to provide users with more customized options to match their new iMac to the interior of the room in which it is placed. “Colors are designed to bring a feeling of light, optimism and joy. I think we can all agree that's what everyone needs right now." she explained.

The new iMac design is controversial for several reasons. However, the most mentioned is the white frame around the display, followed by the questionable chin under the display itself. In defense of the first Colleen she explained that it's a "light gray" rather than the typically "Apple" white we're used to with the company's other products. In their defense, he also states that the absent sharp contrast between black and the interior is noticeably smoother in the case of white with the interior.

The beard follows immediately

As for the chin under the display, this is of course a necessary concession given the hardware the machine is equipped with. Apple had two options to go with. Make a stronger device without a chin, or make it as thin as it is and add a chin. Of course, we already know which path he chose. Overall, the new iMac 2021 has half the volume of the previous 21,5″ iMac, which also has a smaller display. Navpreet then explained that the move to the M1 chip in the iMac affected "every aspect of it". In addition to the new design, this also included such things as equipping the computer with USB-C/Thunderbolt ports, as well as unique speakers with Dolby Atmos and, last but not least, a new magnetic power connector. Its pins are perfectly adapted to the magnetic connection, which is also strong enough to prevent accidental disconnection.

Magic keyboard with fingerprint

podcast however, there was also Magic Keyboard s touch id. The question was about whether it will be available separately, since Apple so far only offers it for higher-end iMacs with an M1 processor and by four USB-C/Thunderbolt ports. Although to this question Colleen Novielli she didn't answer, emphasizing that this keyboard will work with any Mac with an M1 chip. So there is one speculation. This keyboard would be ideal for use not only with a Mac mini, but also if you were using a MacBook Air and 13" MacBook Pro with M1 chips connected to an external monitor. When you visit the Apple Online Store, the company still offers the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad in their second generations, in silver (for an extra charge, of course, still in space gray). And since the iMac 2021 will be sold in a slightly more established silver color from April 30, its keyboard variant with Touch ID could be sold separately. It wouldn't make much sense for color combinations. Why Apple is so secretive about it though is a question. You can listen to the whole interview in episode 350 of the Upgrade podcast on Relay FM. You can find it on the website Relay FM or v Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), Podcasts
