Even before the presentation of this year's iPhone 13 series, speculations about the possible innovations of the next generation of Apple phones swept through the Internet at world speed. Well-known leaker Jon Prosser volunteered to speak. He shared a render of the iPhone 14 in the Pro Max version, which in terms of design resembled the old iPhone 4. However, the most interesting change is undoubtedly the absence of an upper cutout and the placement of Face ID technology under the phone's display. But a simple question arises. Do similar leaks, published almost a year before the phone's launch, have any weight at all, or should we not pay attention to them?

What we know about the iPhone 14 so far

Before we get to the topic itself, let's quickly recap what we know so far about the upcoming iPhone 14. As we mentioned above, the mentioned leak was taken care of by the well-known leaker Jon Prosser. According to his information, the design of the Apple phone should change to the form of the iPhone 4, while at the same time it is expected to remove the upper cutout. After all, apple growers have been calling for this change for several years. It is precisely because of the so-called notch, or upper cutout, that Apple is constantly the target of criticism, even from Apple fans themselves. While the competition relies on the well-known cutout in the display, in the case of phones with the bitten apple logo, it is necessary to expect a cut-out. The truth is that it looks quite unaesthetic and takes up a lot of space unnecessarily.

However, it has its justification. In addition to the front cameras, all the necessary components for Face ID technology are hidden in the upper cutout. It ensures the greatest possible safety thanks to the possibility of 3D scanning of the face, when the resulting mask consists of more than 30 thousand points. It is Face ID that should be the stumbling block, why it has not been possible to reduce the notch in any way so far. A slight change came only now together with the iPhone 13, which reduced the cutout by 20%. However, let's pour some pure wine - the mentioned 20% is quite negligible.

Do current leaks hold any weight?

There is a relatively simple answer to the question of whether the current leaks actually have any weight when we are still almost a year away from the introduction of the new iPhone 14 generation. It is necessary to realize that the development of a new Apple phone is not a matter of a year or less. On the other hand, new devices are being worked on long in advance, and with a high probability we can already say that somewhere on a table in Cupertino are complete drawings with the shape of the mentioned iPhone 14. It is therefore not completely unrealistic that a similar leak could not occur at all.

iPhone 14 render

Among other things, probably the most respected analyst ever, Ming-Chi Kuo, who, according to the portal, took the side of leaker Jon Prosser AppleTrack accurate in 74,6% of its predictions. The whole situation is not even helped by the recent actions taken by Apple against the leakers themselves, who bring out relatively important information. Today, it is no longer a secret that the Cupertino giant intends to fight similar incidents and simply has no place for employees who bring out information. In addition, there is a beautiful irony at work in this - even this information was leaked to the public after Apple's actions.

Will the iPhone 14 bring a complete redesign and get rid of the notch?

So will the iPhone 14 really offer a complete redesign, will it get rid of the cutout or even align the rear photo module with the body of the phone? The chances of such a change undoubtedly exist and are certainly not small. However, it is still necessary to approach this information with caution. After all, only Apple knows 14% the final form of the iPhone 100 and its possible changes until the presentation.
