In June of this year, Apple presented new operating systems at its WWDC 2021 developer conference. Of course, the imaginary spotlight fell on iOS 15, i.e. iPadOS 15. At the same time, however, watchOS 8 and macOS Monterey were not forgotten either. In addition, all mentioned systems, except for macOS Monterey, are already available. But why hasn't the system for apple computers come out yet? What is Apple still waiting for and when will we actually see it?

Why the other systems have already come out

Of course, there is also the question of why other systems are already available. Fortunately, there is a fairly simple answer to this. As the Cupertino giant traditionally presents its new phones and watches in September, it also releases the presented operating systems to the public. Thanks to this, these iPhones and Apple Watch are starting to be sold with the latest operating systems. On the other hand, macOS has been waiting a little longer for the last two years. While macOS Mojave was made available in September 2018, the next Catalina was released only in October 2019 and last year's Big Sur only in November.

Why Apple is still waiting with macOS Monterey

There is a highly probable rationale as to why macOS Monterey is still not available to the public. After all, a similar situation happened last year, when, as we mentioned above, the Big Sur system was only released in November, and at the same time three Macs with the Apple Silicon M1 chip were revealed to the world. For a long time, there has been talk about the arrival of a redesigned MacBook Pro (2021), which will be available in 14″ and 16″ variants.

16″ MacBook Pro (render):

Currently, the expected MacBook Pro appears to be the most likely reason why the macOS Monterey operating system has not yet been released to the public. By the way, he has been talked about all this year and expectations are really high. The model should be powered by the successor of the M1 chip, probably labeled M1X, and boast a brand new design.

When will macOS Monterey be released and what will the new MacBook Pro boast?

Finally, let's take a look at when Apple will actually release the expected macOS Monterey. It can be expected that the system will be released shortly after the introduction of the mentioned MacBook Pro. However, although its performance should be literally just around the corner, it is still not entirely clear when it will actually happen. However, respected sources agree on the next autumn Apple Event, which should take place in October or November this year. However, we will have to wait a little longer for official information.

What's New in macOS Monterey:

As for the MacBook Pro itself, it should boast the already mentioned new design and significantly greater performance. This will provide the M1X chip, which will drive a 10-core CPU (with 8 powerful and 2 economical cores) in combination with a 16 or 32-core GPU (depending on the customer's choice). In terms of operating memory, the Apple laptop should offer up to 32 GB. However, it is far from over here. The new design should allow some ports to return. The arrival of the HDMI connector, SD card reader and MagSafe is most often talked about, which, by the way, was also confirmed leaked schematic, shared by the hacker group REvil. Some sources also talk about the deployment of a Mini LED display. Such a change would undoubtedly push the quality of the screen several levels forward, which was demonstrated with the 12,9″ iPad Pro (2021) among others.

Exclusive macOS Monterey options for the expected MacBook Pro

We also recently informed you through an article about the development of the so-called high performance mode. Mention of its existence was discovered in the code of the beta version of the macOS Monterey operating system, and with a high probability it could force the device to use all its resources. In addition to the mention, there is already a warning in the beta about the potential noise from the fans and the possibility of faster battery discharge. But what can such a regime actually be for? This question can be answered quite simply. The operating system itself corrects how much power it actually needs at a given moment, due to which it does not use the full potential of the internal components and can thus be more economical, but also quieter or prevent overheating.

In addition, there has been a discussion among apple users about whether the mode could not be exclusively intended for the expected MacBook Pros. This laptop, especially in its 16″ version, is intended directly for professionals who use it for demanding operations in the form of photo or video editing, work with (3D) graphics, programming and more. Precisely in these situations, it could sometimes come in handy if the apple picker could force the use of maximum power.
