This is definitely not a groundbreaking innovation. The most equipped Android phones have been offering it for many years, and their owners praise it. It will allow them to charge their wearable devices when they run out of juice, but still have enough in their phone. Now there are also rumors that finally this year is the D-day for Apple and its iPhones.

It's not that complicated. After turning on the function in your phone, when, for example, Galaxy Samsung devices offer access to this charging directly from the quick menu panel, you put another phone, headphones or even a smart watch on its back, and your phone starts charging this device wirelessly. Of course, it should be taken more as an emergency solution, but it is also useful for apple lovers, when their iPhone revives, for example, the often-hated Android smartphone.

You definitely can't expect who knows what speeds here, because the standard is 4,5 W. However, it's actually enough for headphones and smart watches. If you turn on the function on your phone and charging is not detected after a while, it will turn itself off to avoid draining the device's battery unnecessarily. But when we return to Samsung's solution, it offers the function in its higher-end phones, where you can charge both its Galaxy Buds series headphones and Galaxy Watch smart watches (and all supported headphones and watches from other manufacturers). But as we are used to, Apple is somewhat restrictive in this regard.

Without Apple Watch?

Many hoped that Apple would introduce reverse charging in the iPhone 14 Pro, which ultimately did not happen. Interestingly, Apple's phones have had some of this technology since the iPhone 12. She revealed it FCC certification. However, Apple never activates this option. A full implementation of reverse wireless charging would allow the iPhone to charge any Qi-enabled accessory. For Apple users, one of the most important use cases for this function would be charging AirPods, not so Apple Watch, which cannot be charged by the Qi standard.

Apple takes an unnecessarily long time to debug the feature, but given its perfectionism, this is not a surprise. It will want to display the charging process in a widget, it solves the speed as well as the removal of excess heat. We wouldn't be at all surprised if iPhones with reverse charging were able to automatically detect the device to charge without you having to manually activate the feature, because that's user-unfriendly after all. We'll see if we'll see it this year or next year, if it's also in the basic line or just the Ultra model, which should also stand out due to the fact that it has a larger battery, which it wouldn't mind sharing with other accessories (perhaps not just the one from Apple).
