Michal Marek Parallels developers have announced the arrival of the new Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac. The popular software that allows you to run alternative operating systems, such as Windows, in a virtual environment on a Mac, has received support for OS X Yosemite, among other things.

Parallels Desktop 10 comes with many new features and improvements. The news includes the already mentioned support for the new OS X Yosemite, support for iCloud Drive and iPhoto libraries. In addition, users can look forward to an increase in speed, and the new version of Parallels Desktop also promises significantly more economical operation, thus increasing the battery life of your Mac. A list of the main changes is as follows:
- integration of OS X Yosemite, support for iCloud Drive and iPhoto library, and integration of the call function via iPhone
- users can now choose with one click what type of activity they use their Mac for (productivity, gaming, design or development) and thus optimize the performance of their virtualized device

- battery life using Parallels Desktop 10 is 30% higher than before
If you are existing users Parallels Desktop 8 or 9, you can upgrade your software to the new version now for $49,99. New users will be able to download Parallels Desktop 10 starting August 26 for $79,99. A student license can be purchased for a discounted price of $39,99. Users of the new Parallels Desktop 10 will receive a three-month subscription to the service as a bonus Parallels Access, which allows Windows and OS X users to access their systems through the iPad.

do not configure anything. Just connect ssh -D 6123 (don't close the terminal!), then you have a proxy set on the Mac, socks v5, leave localhost as server, port 6123. Firefox has this setting directly in itself.

I would just add that it is necessary to have a trusted VPN, I wouldn't do it through various anonymous ones, but that's just my paranoia :)
I bought the upgrade this morning and it cost me 42 EUR. I entered the VAT number of my company and the VAT payer during the purchase, and the system deducted the VAT exactly according to the rules for issuing tax documents within the EU. I entered the payment in EUR (full price EUR 49) instead of CZK (approx. CZK 1490). I am not advising anyone with this…. :) The license works for me on two computers at once.

The guys from Parallels at are going to stab each other. Their approach to licensing, especially upgrade pricing, is outrageous. After two versions, they can shove their piece (although objectively speaking it's not a bad piece of SW) among the regiments...
And is there any extra advantage of parallels compared to e.g. virtual box from oracle? (I don't mean Yosemite support now. I'll have them here too - even if later)
I also like paying $50 a year as a waste (that is, for what I use it for).
1. Compared to the competition, Parallels is significantly better optimized, better performance, lower consumption, 3D support...
2. VMWARE and a lot of other companies that make SW for OS.X also have such a license policy, unlike WIN, APPLE very often pays +- 80% of the price for a new license for an upgrade :(
I've been using VirtualBox on beta Yosemite for about a month now.
The advantage is 100% more pop-up advertising windows for antivirus on mac and other devices.
I would have given it a try if it was worth it, but as soon as ads for crappy applications started popping up on me when I started, I gave up on them out of principle.
I have the same opinion. After upgrading to nine this June, I'm already itching for it. Should I pay for a liter every six months? … pche
I bought version 7 and 9. I'll skip the ten again and see next year. 50 Euro per year is quite a salary :(. I think that the upgrades could be for a better price, since there are no more updates and improvements for the older versions.
Mainly, the real yield of new versions is minimal. Most of the time, it's just a deliberate limitation of (non)functionality on new versions of OSX.
I.e. We won't bring you anything (meaningful) new, but if you want to use Parallels on the new version of OSX, pay...
I've mostly observed a subjective speedup on older machines, plus some optimizations, either setting. On the other hand, there is nothing new to invent in this type of SW :( If you upgrade every 3 versions, nothing will happen…

as was the case with previous versions, they will release a patch, I just don't remember if it was before the official release of the system or after.
Interesting, I have a PD8 now, I'll wait another year and buy a 10 at the beginning of August, and after mid August I'll get an update to 11. Pretty good? :D
Parallels never again. After buying a new MBP, they spit out "Unable to confirm the product license. You have reached the maximum number of activations." and all that was left was to buy a new license. NO possibility of deactivation, management of activation, etc.
have you contacted their support? It doesn't seem like much to me. I've been using Parallels since version 5, I've always upgraded my license, anyway I have 2MB at the moment and it works fine on both… It's a fact that I never launch at the same time, but I'm either working on one or the other…
with this approach, they can't be too surprised if there is mass "buying" on war forums :-D

I quit Parallels last year after OSX Mavericks came out and my expensive license stopped working.
I'm thinking about upgrading. Nowhere on their website can I find an option to upgrade to version 10 with a student license. But the five dollars probably won't rip me off anymore.
After upgrading from Parallels 9 to version 10, it is known that WIN 8.1 runs slow, especially the mouse response, etc. I am going to complain :)
