Parallels developers have announced the arrival of the new Parallels Desktop 10 for Mac. The popular software that allows you to run alternative operating systems, such as Windows, in a virtual environment on a Mac, has received support for OS X Yosemite, among other things.

Parallels Desktop 10 comes with many new features and improvements. The news includes the already mentioned support for the new OS X Yosemite, support for iCloud Drive and iPhoto libraries. In addition, users can look forward to an increase in speed, and the new version of Parallels Desktop also promises significantly more economical operation, thus increasing the battery life of your Mac. A list of the main changes is as follows:

  • integration of OS X Yosemite, support for iCloud Drive and iPhoto library, and integration of the call function via iPhone
  • users can now choose with one click what type of activity they use their Mac for (productivity, gaming, design or development) and thus optimize the performance of their virtualized device
  • users can share files, text or web pages from the Windows operating system using Internet accounts set up on their Mac (Twitter, Facebook, Vimeo, Flickr) or send them via email, AirDrop or iMessage
  • users can move files between virtual systems using drag and drop
  • opening Windows documents is now 48% faster
  • battery life using Parallels Desktop 10 is 30% higher than before

If you are existing users Parallels Desktop 8 or 9, you can upgrade your software to the new version now for $49,99. New users will be able to download Parallels Desktop 10 starting August 26 for $79,99. A student license can be purchased for a discounted price of $39,99. Users of the new Parallels Desktop 10 will receive a three-month subscription to the service as a bonus Parallels Access, which allows Windows and OS X users to access their systems through the iPad.
