Apple traditionally presents new iPhones in September, but this is a new series designed for the given year. Apart from that, we have the iPhone SE to show the world in the spring. New color variants of the current series have been coming in recent years in the spring. Can we look forward to this year as well?

If we look back a little in history, it was on April 15, 2020, when Apple introduced the iPhone SE 2nd generation. On April 20, 2021, as part of his Keynote, he also revealed the new colors of the iPhone 12, which were given a pleasant purple color. On March 8 last year, we saw not only the 3rd generation iPhone SE, but also new color variants of the iPhone 13 and this time the iPhone 13 Pro. In the first case it was green, in the second it was alpine green.

Will it be green again?

Apple typically presents 5 different colors for the basic series, and four colors for the Pro models. This year we have Blue, Purple, Dark Ink, Star White and (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 14 (Plus) and Dark Purple, Gold, Silver and Space Black iPhone 14 Pro (Max). So the situation from 2021 will not be repeated, because for the first time we have this color represented in all versions of the iPhone 14.

So when we look at the list of colors and those we have had in the past, it clearly follows that if Apple wants to present us with new color versions of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, it will probably be green again. Even though it will be named the same in the base line, it will definitely have a different shade. The Pro series will probably be darker than the iPhone 13 Pro models and will be named accordingly. It is directly offered to use the name as dark green (iPhone 11 Pro was in midnight green). We also miss the blue here, but we don't expect the new color to be different for the base and Pro models.

Other (color) portfolio

Where else could Apple be inspired? It is quite difficult to find a certain match between the products, unless we count perhaps the only color that is always the same, which is simply silver. For the Apple Watch and M2 MacBook Air, we can find dark ink, starry white and (PRODUCT)RED red, but they already have the basic iPhone 14 (even if Apple simply doesn't do well with the same shades on different products). So, if Apple wanted to be inspired by another model in its portfolio, the most colorful one is directly offered.

You can already have the M1 iMac in green, as well as in yellow and orange. For example, we already had yellow on the iPhone XR or iPhone 11, when this variant would certainly suit the iPhone 14, but it is too flashy for the 14 Pro models. Apple has never really experimented with them, so the use of pink or perhaps coral red (also known from the iPhone XR) falls here. The color is of course a wide palette with many shades.

There is no indication that the company should somehow deviate from the established trend and not present the new colors of the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro. The new unlooked-for colors are supposed to raise interest in the device at a time that is somehow not conducive to high sales. But it's true that Apple didn't get it right with the last Christmas season and may not have a reason to innovate the line when there is such a hunger for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max in particular, regardless of what colors they offer.
