In this regular column, every day we look at the most interesting news that revolves around the California company Apple. Here we focus exclusively on the main events and selected (interesting) speculations. So if you are interested in current events and want to be informed about the apple world, definitely spend a few minutes on the following paragraphs.

Apple will face another investigation by the European Commission

In recent years, the Californian giant has been plagued by one complaint after another. We have already informed you about several anti-monopoly complaints in recent months. To these is now added the renowned application Telegram, which provides encrypted transmission of messages. In a complaint addressed to the European Commission, the leading personalities of the chat application complain about the fact that users of the iOS operating system can only download the program from the Apple App Store.

The complaint also discusses the advent of the gaming platform that Telegram came up with in 2016. Unfortunately, this service never saw the light of day in the Apple world because it allegedly did not meet the conditions of the App Store. It should thus be a precise example of monopolistic behavior on the part of the Cupertino company, which with these steps prevents progressive innovations. However, it is rather paradoxical that a company offering an encrypted chat application wants to jeopardize the overall security of users by allowing them to install applications from unverified sources as well.

Telegram is already the third major company to complain about Apple's behavior to the European Commission. We could already hear complaints from Spotify and Rakuten in the past. In addition, the Californian giant is currently facing an investigation by antitrust authorities in the United States.

iPhone 12 will not be released until October, we will also see a new iPad

In recent years, introducing new iPhones has become a tradition. They are revealed every year in September. Unfortunately, this year brought with it a number of problems, led by the global pandemic of a new type of coronavirus, due to which there was a postponement in several different spheres. Therefore, question marks still hang over the mentioned presentation of new flagships with the bitten apple logo. Today we got two new reports that provide some answers.

First, we got a new post from a well-known leaker on Twitter Jon Prosser. His post talks about the arrival of new iPhones only in October, while at the same time he also mentions a new iPad, but does not specify a specific model. The release of an improved iPad Pro has been rumored for a long time. But it was already released this year, albeit with only minor changes, and some reports speak more of a release in 2021. Quite possibly, we could wait to see the improved iPad Air. It could bring a full-screen display and an integrated Touch ID under the display.

The later arrival of the iPhones was also confirmed today by Qualcomm, who hinted at a slightly delayed release at one of their 5G partners. This year's generation of Apple phones should be equipped with 5G chips from Qualcomm. In addition, it is still unclear whether the sale will only be postponed, or whether the entire performance will be postponed. According to tradition, the unveiling could theoretically take place in September, while the market entry would be moved to the aforementioned October. We encountered the same situation back in 2018 with the iPhone XR.

Apple faces another problem: It favored Amazon Prime over others

It's no secret that the Californian giant tries to ensure the best possible privacy for its users, while at the same time setting the same conditions for every developer. In the United States of America, there is currently a relatively large lawsuit due to the monopolistic behavior of the technology giants, in which Apple itself is also participating. It was this process that brought with it a lot of interesting information. It has now been revealed that the Cupertino company significantly favored Amazon Prime on the App Store.

If you are a developer and want to launch your app with a subscription system to the App Store, Apple takes 30 percent of the total amount for each paid user. This rule applies to all entities exactly the same, and in the event that a paid user starts another year of paying for the service, the fee drops to 15 percent. In the case of Amazon, an exception was obviously made. Email communication from 2016 between Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Apple Vice President Eddy Cue was revealed.

At the time, Apple was trying to get the Amazon Prime service into the App Store and Apple TV, so that it could eventually profit from it itself. Amazon probably did not want to cooperate, after which Eddy Cue proceeded to reduce the fees to only 15 percent. Only one thing follows from this - Apple purposefully favored Amazon over other developers for the sake of profit. The Californian giant is said to often enter into lucrative contracts with popular companies, leading to the bullying of smaller studios. Of course, the apple fans themselves also react to the newly published information. According to some, Apple's behavior is understandable, because it is more important to provide users with popular applications and services even for this tax, but others are against it. Which side are you on?
