Preschool bag - My first report card is the third game in a series of educational applications for preschool children. Behind the project is the capable developer Jan Friml, who has been developing entertainment-educational applications for preschool children for a long time and cooperates with people from the ranks of special pedagogues, speech therapists and specialists in graphomotor skills. We decided to bring you at least a short look at this unique project in the article. We think that the application is definitely worth the attention of all modern parents.

Preschool bag 3 brings a total of three levels of difficulty, which are distinguished by stars. The easiest difficulty is intended for the really little ones, and children from 3 years old can strengthen their skills on it. The intermediate level is designed for children between four and five years old, and the hardest level is created for preschool children (5-6 years old). There are 600 different tasks in the game and children can try a total of 10 types of educational tasks to improve math skills, auditory and visual memory, graphomotor skills and so on.

The child chooses tasks by spinning the colored spinning wheel. It spins really randomly, so the child cannot purposefully avoid certain types of tasks. For the completion of individual tasks, the preschooler receives marks in the form of smileys, which indicate whether the task was mastered the first time, the second time, or not at all. After collecting enough smileys, which depends on the difficulty level, a report card is displayed. The report card also has a window for the child's photo, which is taken with the iPad's front camera. When completed, the report card is saved to the picture library, so the child can show off his results to parents, grandparents or friends at any time.

Now let's take a closer look at the individual types of tasks that are prepared for children. Of course, the difficulty of the task always depends on the chosen difficulty, but the type of the given task remains the same at all three levels. Among the tasks we find the following:

  • classic puzzle,
  • sound recognition – a sound is played and the child must match a picture showing its originator (animals, means of transport, musical instruments, etc.), with higher difficulty there is a whole series of sounds and the preschooler must also sort the originator of the sounds according to the order in which the sounds were heard,
  • visual memory exercise – a geometric shape or shapes appear on the grid and then disappear, the child then has to match the corresponding shapes to the empty fields,
  • exclusion from a logical series – the child must choose from a series of objects the one that differs from the others,
  • "maze" - for this task, it is necessary to create a path between the mouse and the cheese from individual pieces,
  • connecting points according to the template - the child must connect the relevant points according to the template and thus create a sample figure,
  • addition - there is a certain amount of objects in the picture and the child must determine their number,
  • writing – the preschooler has the task of tracing the prescribed letter with his finger,
  • completing the logical series - the child must logically match the geometric shape to the model series,
  • determining silhouettes according to the pattern – the preschooler sees a certain shape in the picture and assigns the given silhouette to it from the menu.

A very successful function is the so-called Parent Page. On it, the parent can operate the game settings (sounds, etc.), but above all view the statistics on the success of individual tasks. In addition, when viewing the results of their child, the parent can eliminate the tasks that the child is good at and leave only the problematic ones in the game so that the child can practice them more. Of course, you can also eliminate those tasks that the child does not like very well, thus preventing unnecessary frustration. The statistics are nicely organized and content filtering is very simple.

Preschool bag - My first report card is a really great application and will help with teaching and improving the abilities of the smallest children in a fun way. The game has beautiful graphics, the tasks are varied and the atmosphere of the game is enhanced by nice "children's" music. I also consider the low price of the app, which is no longer accompanied by any secondary in-app purchases, to be a big plus.
