The Czech Republic is often deprived of the latest functions that Apple adds to its services, but now the Czech user can enjoy one new feature before most Europeans. Prague public transport arrived in Apple Maps today.
After London and Berlin, Prague is only the third European city in which Apple Maps reports the availability of data from public transport and the possibility of starting navigation using trains, trams, buses or the metro.
In addition to the mentioned means of transport within Prague, there are also buses and trains of the Czech Railways on lines S, which connect Prague with the Central Bohemian Region (see the routes drawn on the attached image below from desktop Apple Maps).
The availability of public transport in Apple Maps is a very pleasant novelty, because until now this data was almost exclusively for the United States, or Canada or China. On the other hand, it is a fact that against Google Maps, Apple's ones can only show Prague and its surroundings, but it is still a positive step forward. Moreover, when last week the integration of Parkopedia brought data about parking lots.
dense :) just yesterday I was sadly switching from Apple Maps to Google Maps to look at the public transport route :D
It's not very thick. He can come up with that route in a rather peculiar way. From Nuslí to Dejvice, it is routed by "tram 11" and then transfer to "=M= A", but the transfer itself will only be made at "Jiřího z Poděbrady" - the tram will pass through the "Muzeum" station.
It's definitely cool and well made. But (maybe I just didn't find it) the app doesn't work with absolute time. It shows "in XX minutes" - I'm missing a specific time there.
Apple maps are a mockery to users, I haven't used them since they were abandoned by Google, and I would like them to be deleted. Yes, we have Seznam and Google.
I haven't used Google since then :) satellite images are already more detailed in some places
From my point of view, Apple Maps is the worst thing that Apple has come up with in recent history. I'm writing this before they introduce an iPhone without the option of a 3,5 mm jack. ;-)
Has anyone tried it yet? I'm outside of Prague and on iOS 9.3.2 and nothing shows up even if I search for connections only in Prague.
By the looks of it, it looks like iOS10… :-/
