Also this week in our series on native Apple apps, we'll be covering iPhone Shortcuts. Today we will introduce the possibilities of launching shortcuts and using them.

One way to launch shortcuts on iPhone is to activate them from the Today view, where you'll find all the shortcuts grouped together in the Shortcuts widget. To add a shortcut to a widget in the Today view, slide the edge of the screen to the right. Scroll to the bottom of the widget list and tap Edit. For iOS 13 and earlier, on the Add Widgets screen, tap the “+” to the left of Shortcuts, for iOS 14, tap the “+” in the upper left corner of the screen and find Shortcuts in the widget designs. Then just select the widget you want to add to the Today view. You can launch a shortcut from a widget in the Today view either by swiping the screen to the right, or by swiping down from the top of the screen to reveal a notification and then sliding the relevant panel to the right.

To set which shortcuts appear in the Today view, first launch the Shortcuts app. Then, for the selected shortcut, click on the icon of three dots in the upper right corner of its card. Detailed information about the shortcut will open, in which you can set where the shortcut will be displayed. After all the adjustments are done, just tap Done. You can launch a shortcut from a widget in the Today view with a simple tap.

You can also launch shortcuts on your iPhone from the search screen - just slide your finger down from the center of the screen and start typing the desired term into the search field. Then tap to launch the shortcut. You can also launch shortcuts in other applications via the share sheet. To activate this option, launch Shortcuts on your iPhone, select the desired shortcut, and tap the three-dot icon. On the shortcut details, tap the three dots icon again and then activate the option to display in the share sheet.
