Working with fonts is key for native Pages (and not only) on the iPad, so we will cover it in several parts in our series. Today we will discuss setting the default font, working with templates and working with styles.

If you often work with a certain font in Pages on iPad, it's more convenient to set it as the default, which will then be used in other new documents. To set the default font type and size for the basic templates (the selected font type and size will apply to the Main text paragraph style), click on the three dots icon at the top of the display -> Settings -> Font for new documents. Activate the Set font and size option, then choose the desired parameters, and after making changes, click Back. To create a custom template with custom font options in Pages on iPad, tap the “+” button at the top of the screen on the main page in the Document Manager. Tap to open any template, then tap the brush icon at the top of the screen. Select the paragraph style you want to edit, then tap Text to go back. In the Font section, select the type, size and other attributes of the font. After that, in the Paragraph Style section, just tap Update. After completing all changes, click on the icon of three dots in a circle in the upper right corner of the display and choose Export -> Pages Template. Click Add to template selection, in the template selection click the My Templates section and save the template.

With the help of paragraph and character styles, you define the appearance of the text. By using font styles, you can maintain consistent text formatting throughout the document, which then looks better. If you want to choose a style for the selected paragraph, first select it and then click on the brush icon in the upper part of the display. Click a title in the Paragraph Style section, then click to select a new style. To apply a character style, select the words and characters you want to apply the style to. Then tap the brush icon at the top of the screen. Under the Font section, tap the three dots, then tap to choose a character style. To create your own paragraph style in Pages on iPad, first select the paragraph you want, tap the brush icon at the top of the screen, and make any adjustments. To create a new style, click on its name in the Paragraph Style section, select Edit in the upper-right corner of the menu, and then click “+” in the upper-left corner. Then just enter the name of the style you created.
