This week, as part of our series on native Apple apps, we continue with Keychain on Mac. Today we'll take a closer look at finding information about certificates in this tool, setting the trust of those certificates, and creating your own CAs and self-signed certificates in Keychain on Mac.

To get information about a certificate in Keychain on a Mac, first launch Keychain. Then, in the Category -> Certificates list, double-click the selected certificate. The information will also be displayed to you after clicking on the icon of the small "i" in the circle on the toolbar. You can also easily verify the validity of a certificate in Keychain on Mac. In the Category -> Certificates list, double-click the selected certificate. On the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, click Keychain -> Certificate Wizard -> Evaluate, and select the trust rules according to the type of certificate. After that, just click on the Continue button.

To view or edit trust rules for certificates in Keychain on Mac, select the appropriate category again in the Categories section. Double-click on the selected certificate and in the information panel click on the triangle next to the item Trust - the menu of trust rules for the given certificate will expand. You can then specify the individual trust rules for each of the rules by clicking on the drop-down menu. With the Certificate Wizard feature, you can also request a certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA) in the Keychain app on Mac. On the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, click Keychain -> Certificate Wizard -> Request a Certificate from a Certificate Authority. Enter the email address, name and email address of the relevant CA and click Continue. After checking the certificate, click Done and then Continue.

To add a certificate to a keychain in Keychain on a Mac, drag the certificate file onto the Keychain icon, or double-click it. On the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, click Keychain -> Certification Wizard -> Create a Certification Authority. Enter the name of the certification authority, specify all the details and do not forget to enter the email address in the "Email from" field. Then click Continue. To create a self-signed certificate in Keychain on Mac, click Keychain -> Certificate Wizard -> Create Certificate on the toolbar. Enter the name of the certificate, specify all the details and click Create. After checking all the details, click Done.
