In another of our regular series, we will gradually introduce native applications from Apple for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac. While the content of some episodes of the series may seem trivial to you, we believe that in most cases we will bring you useful information and tips for using native Apple applications.

Creating events

Creating events in the native iOS Calendar is really easy. Directly in the application, tap on the main page the + symbol in the top-right corner. You can then name the created event and enter a place in the line below the name - when you enter the name of the place, the application will automatically offer you related contacts in addition to locations on the map. In the next lines, you can set whether it will be an all-day event or whether it will take place at a specific time. For regular reminders (birthdays, invoicing, anniversaries...) you can in the tab Repetition set the intervals at which you will be reminded of the action. If it is an event that you will need to travel to, you can in the section Travel time enter how long you will be traveling - the time will be reflected in the event notification and your calendar will be blocked for that time. In the section Kalendář you determine which calendar the event will be included in - we will discuss the creation and management of individual calendars in the next parts of the article. You can also invite people from your contacts to the event, and you can set how far in advance you want to be notified of the event. In the next steps, you can set whether you will be available at the time of the event, you can also add an attachment from Files on your iPhone, a web address, and other items to the event.

Editing an event and creating a new calendar

If you need to change the time of an event, long press the event in the day view, then simply drag it to a different time. The second option is to click on the event itself and select Edit in the upper right corner, where you can also change other parameters of the event. You can also create multiple calendars in the native iOS Calendar to keep events of different kinds together. Some calendars are created automatically in the application - you can delete or turn off unnecessary ones and create your own calendar. To create new calendar click on Calendars in the middle of the bottom of the screen. In the lower left corner, tap Add Calendar, name the calendar, and tap All done.If you tap on the calendar list "i" icon to the right of the calendar name, you can further edit the calendar – set up sharing with other people, set up public sharing of the calendar or change the color marking. At the very bottom you will find a button to delete the calendar. If you want to Calendar add another service's calendar, run Settings -> Passwords & accounts -> Add account -> Other, and log in to your Google, Exchange, Yahoo or another account.

How about invitations

If you want to your event invite other users, click on the event, in the upper right corner, select edit, about halfway down the screen, tap Invitation and add selected users. You can choose invitees even for an event that you did not create - it is enough for the event tap, select Invitation and choose Send email to invitees. After that, all you have to do is enter the names or e-mail addresses of the invitees, or click the button Add select the desired contacts. When finished tap on done in the case of a foreign event, choose Send.
