Today we continue our regular series on native Apple apps with information about the Finder. While in the last part we discussed the options for displaying and customizing the appearance of the Finder, in this part we will take a closer look at searching for files and working with them in a basic way.

Searching for files in the Finder

Sobjects in Finder you can search either in the usual way, or through virtual assistant Siri. Siri assistance you can enter the criteria to search specific types files - commands like “Show me my JPG files”, “show me files from last week” or maybe “show me files that are tagged red”. TO manual search then the search function is used bar in the upper right corner of the application window, you can search start also by pressing a keyboard shortcut Cmd+F.

Do search field then you can enter File Name, part of the text, file format or maybe brand color. You can also search by in the Finder keywords, such as od, komu, Author, mark, name, nameor contains. You can search by keywords by: you enter keyword, you write for it colon and add o search term. For example, if you want to search for files whose name contains the word Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, you enter an expression in the search box name: Apple. You can also use to search in Finder logical operators A, OR a NE. For example, if you want to search for items that contain Goodbye Apple but by do not contain expression iPhone, you enter in the search field Apple iPhone.

Working with files in the Finder

You can easily files in the Finder to move or copy by dragging. In this way, you can not only individual items to relocate within the Finder, but you can from the application window to move also on the desktop, in mail, Notes, in the Dock, on the Finder sidebar, and so on other places. For transfer the selected item is enough for a file or folder drag, for copying hold the key while dragging Alt. Files from Finder you can too to share. Enough click to select item and then on toolbar at the top of the application window click on share icon. In menu, which opens for you, then you just have to choose method of sharing. You can also click on the selected item to share right click mouse and select Share. If you choose to share via AirDrop, make sure both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are enabled on both devices.

You can also use Finder to information display o files, components a discs on your Mac. To get information about individual items choose required items (for selection multiple items hold down at once the Cmd key) and then on bar at the top of the screen click on File -> Information. You can also use a hotkey to display information Cmd+I. To obtain summary information about multiple items choose desired items, press and hold the Ctrl key and click right mouse button. In menu, which appears to you, select it Summary information.
