Also in today's installment of the series on native Apple apps, we'll be looking at the Apple TV app for Mac. This time we'll take a closer look at working with media - we'll discuss media import into the application, playback or perhaps work with libraries.

If you have various video files stored on your Mac, you can easily import them into the Apple TV app. Just click File -> Import on the toolbar at the top of the screen. You then locate the appropriate file or folder and click Open. If you add a folder, all files from that folder will be imported. You can also import files and folders by dragging them from the Finder window to the Library window in the Apple TV app.

If you want to use multiple libraries in the Apple TV app at the same time (for example, to include a private video library that will not appear in the standard library), first click on the toolbar at the top of the screen on TV -> Quit TV. When you restart the Apple TV app, hold down the Alt (Option) key and in the window that appears, click Create a new library. Name the library and save. You can then make edits by clicking File -> Library -> Organize Library on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen.

If you hover over any item in your library and click Next, you can either download the item, mark it as watched or unwatched, add it to a playlist, get more information about it, copy it, or delete it from your library. To create a playlist, click File -> New -> Playlist on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen, then name the playlist you created. To add new items to your playlist, click Library on the toolbar at the top of your Mac screen and either drag an item from your library to the playlist in the sidebar, or hover over the selected item, click Next, and choose Add to Playlist.
