Popular brands like Apple, Tesla, Beats and others hold a certain brand of luxury and are therefore preferred by many users. This can be seen perfectly, for example, with the aforementioned Apple, or rather with its Apple iPhone phones. They still have their special prestige and the recognition of a large group of loyal fans. But have you ever wondered if the phone brand can affect your partner life? This is exactly what the recently published study by MoneySuperMarket shed light on, which brings quite interesting findings. If you own Apple products, then you have a significantly better chance of success in online dating than others.

The goal of the study makes relatively logical sense. People have always been interested in brands, and while they perceive some as better and more luxurious, others can be completely against their grain. This is related to the already mentioned popular brands. On the other hand, if we are looking for a partner, for example, the brand of the phone used should perhaps be the last thing we are interested in. But how we react subconsciously, of course, is not something we can easily influence.

Influence of phone brand on success

But let's move on to the results themselves. According to the study, it is evident that the brand of electronics used can have a direct influence on the (un)success of a particular user of online dating sites, while using the "right" brand can increase the chance of success by up to 82%. At first glance, it sounds unbelievable. In cases where a user had a specific brand directly mentioned in their profile and experienced a positive impact, their number of matches with the test profile increased by an average of 38%. On the other hand, it also works the other way around. This is because if the use of devices from the "wrong" brand was entered into the test profile, the profile was met with a negative impact. On average, this caused a 30% decrease in matches on the mentioned online dating sites.

Now let's take a look at the most popular brands. The study identified the Californian giant Apple as the unequivocal winner, whose products increase the chance of success on online dating significantly more than when using products with the competing Android system. Test profiles with highlighted products such as iPhone, AirPods or Apple Watch enjoyed a 74% increase in the resulting matches. Such a high number did not appear in other cases at all. But this does not necessarily mean that competing products are necessarily bad. Even users with phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra or Google Pixel 6 Pro experienced an increase in the resulting matches. In that case, the increase was only significantly lower than for devices from Apple. But the study also showed the exact opposite. Showing products of cheaper or less popular brands on online dating sites can, on the contrary, repel potential partners. An extreme drop was seen among Blackberry users, whose number of matches dropped by 78%. For example, Huawei, Oppo, One Plus or Sony can also bring negative impacts. About the study

The study was conducted during March and June 2022. In this case, experts created identical profiles across the most popular online dating sites in a number of cities within North America and Europe. For example, profiles have been created for cities such as San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, London, Barcelona and Rome. Apart from the aforementioned impact of the phone brand used, the study also focused on the so-called selfie test. Paradoxically, Android was the winner in it.
