Recently, the use of an iPhone is suddenly seen as more of a shame by some consumers in China. According to available reports, the recent embargo imposed on Huawei brand products in the United States is to blame. President Donald Trump declared a state of emergency in the US and banned trade with Huawei in the interest of national security. But this move is double-edged, according to China, and could have a devastating effect on the Apple brand.

According to the South China Morning Post, the sanctions imposed by America on Huawei will only have a marginal effect, while the American Apple could be affected in the long term. As a result of the embargo imposed on the Chinese Huawei, calls for a boycott of Apple are intensifying in its homeland. In addition, Huawei brand smartphones are popular in the country even among high-ranking workers. This is confirmed by Sam Li, an employee of the state-owned telecommunications company, according to whom it is "a bit embarrassing to take an iPhone out of your pocket when the entire management of the company uses Huawei." He himself finally decided to switch to Huawei.

The founder of one of the Chinese startups recently called for a boycott of Apple and switching to Huawei. He stated that Huawei has more advanced technologies than Apple, and that smartphones of this brand are already ready for the arrival of 5G networks. According to Kiranjeet Kaur of IDC Asia Pacific, as a result of Huawei's ban in the US, the Chinese's affection for "their" brand may increase even more.

Huawei sold 206 million of its smartphones last year, of which 105 million were sold directly in China. In the Chinese market, Huawei had a share of 26,4%, while Apple only had 9,1%.

However, according to Bryan Ma from IDC Asia Pacific, Apple still has a reputation as a luxury brand in China, and despite the current situation, there will still be a relatively large group of users who will prefer smartphones from the Cupertino company. In addition, Apple CEO Tim Cook has a good reputation in certain circles in China thanks to his charitable activities.
