The introduction of the iPhone 14 series is literally just around the corner. Although Apple does not share any information about its products in advance, we still roughly know what we can expect from the new models. The available speculations and leaks most often mention the removal of the criticized cutout and the arrival of the main camera with a higher resolution. However, the majority of the apple community was surprised by slightly different information. Apple is reportedly going to put the new Apple A16 chipset only in the Pro models, while the basic ones will have to make do with last year's Apple A15, which beats for example in the iPhone 13, iPhone SE 3 and iPad mini.
This speculation attracted a lot of attention. Something like this has never happened in the past and it is not a common phenomenon even in the case of competing phones. Therefore, apple growers began to puzzle over why the giant would resort to such a thing at all and how it would actually help itself. The simplest explanation is that Apple simply wants to save on costs. On the other hand, there are other possibilities for explanation.
Apple is running out of ideas
However, other ideas appeared among apple growers. According to other speculations, it is possible that Apple is slowly running out of ideas and is looking for a way to differentiate the basic iPhones from the Pro versions. In that case, deploying the newer chips only in the iPhone 14 Pro would be a purely artificial matter to favor these versions over the normal ones, by which Apple could theoretically lure more users to the more expensive variant. As we already mentioned above, using two different generations of chipsets in one line of phones is very unusual and in a way Apple would be unique - and quite possibly not in a positive way.
On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning that Apple chips are far ahead in terms of performance. Thanks to this, we can count on the fact that even in the case of using last year's chip, iPhones would definitely not have to suffer, and still easily cope with possible competition from other manufacturers. However, it is not about potential performance at all, on the contrary. In general, no one doubts the capabilities of the Apple A15 Bionic chip. The Cupertino giant clearly showed us their potential and capabilities with last year's iPhones. This discussion is being opened due to the aforementioned oddity, with most fans trying to figure out why the giant would resort to such a thing.
Will the new chips remain exclusive to the iPhone Pro?
Subsequently, it is also a question of whether Apple will continue this possible trend, or whether, on the contrary, it is a one-time matter, which is currently requested by unknown circumstances. It is of course impossible to estimate how the iPhone 15 series will fare when we do not yet know the shape of this year's generation. Apple users, however, agree that Apple could easily continue this and theoretically reduce annual costs.
As already mentioned, Apple's A-Series chips are ahead of their competition in terms of performance, which is why the giant can theoretically afford such a thing. At the same time, it is also possible that the competition will take over this trend in the future. Of course, no one knows yet how it will actually be and what Apple will surprise us with. We will have to wait for more information.
So good for me. I don't expect anything from the phone, the performance of the iP12 chip is enough for me, the camera too - so at least I don't have to spend.
Vratislav, it's great that you write for Apple magazine, but it's all the same shit as everyone else. If you want to be a quality journalist, screw up tabloids like lsa. In order to get quality information, one has to connect 5,6 articles, which is close.
Pravda
Exactly, but that's how it is with 90% of articles.
I especially like how everyone cooks from water. Every week some "leak", which is refuted the next week, only to be confirmed afterwards :-) After the show, it turns out that there was only one truth, namely that the iPhone has a display.
Nobody knows anything, but of articles 3 ( . )
There is still an optimistic option, i.e. that the processor will be so innovative that it simply won't be available in the quantity needed even for basic iPhones. For example, that some variant of the 3nm production process, which was only recently launched by Samsung, could already be used (TSMC starts mass production in September, so it would not have time to produce even iPhone Pro processors).
