On Wednesday, the World Health Organization officially declared a global pandemic of the coronavirus. Even before the current situation was classified in this way, a number of organizations already started canceling various conferences, meetings and other events. The popular Electronic Entertainment Expo, also known as E3, was recently added to the canceled events.

After initial speculations, the cancellation of the fair was officially confirmed by the organizers themselves. You website of the fair issued a statement stating that after careful consideration and in agreement with partner companies, they have decided to cancel this year's E3 in consideration of the health and safety of fans, employees, exhibitors, and longtime partners of the fair. It was supposed to take place from June 9 to 11 in Los Angeles. The organizers of E3 further state that the cancellation was the best solution for them given the current situation. The responsible team will gradually contact individual exhibitors and other participants of the fair directly to provide them with the necessary information regarding the provision of compensation.

The organizers of the fair are also thinking about the possibility of alternative ways of presenting the news that was originally supposed to take place at E3. Those interested can very likely look forward to streams, online transcripts and official announcements of various news. Some partners, such as Ubisoft or Xbox, are gradually beginning to promise at least a partial transfer of the experience from the E3 fair to the online space. At the end of their official statement, the E3 organizers thanked everyone and said they are looking forward to E3 in 2021.
