This year in June they agreed on the cancellation of roaming charges from June 2017 representatives of the member states of the European Union and the European Parliament, now the member states themselves have sanctified their proposal. As of June 1, 2017, customers abroad will pay the same price for phone calls and data as at home.
The final confirmation of the cancellation of roaming charges was made in Luxembourg by the ministers of industry of the twenty-eight countries. The MEPs originally wanted to cancel roaming payments from the end of this year, but in the end, due to pressure from operators, a compromise was reached.
Roaming rates will continue to decrease in the following years until they are completely abolished from 1 June 2017. From April 2016, customers abroad will have to pay a maximum of five cents (1,2 kroner) without VAT for one megabyte of data or a minute of calling, and a maximum of two cents (50 pennies) without VAT for an SMS.
Many criticize the abolition of roaming charges. Operators are worried about their profits, which could lead to an increase in rates for other services, for example.
it wasn't originally supposed to be this December already .. it just keeps getting delayed.(
melo, but the operators still want to fill their pockets before this thief catches on
Exactly, and non-gluttons will still "worry about their profits".
After traveling around Europe, Me O2 sent a beautiful invoice for approx. 5000 (data roaming). Because it didn't happen to me, I paid for a one-time package the first time. Unfortunately, my out-of-package data blocking was turned off without my permission, which no one from O2 could explain to me. After 2 hours of guessing, only the 3rd employee had a reasonable conversation. After a week, I was informed that the invoice would be lowered. The exact same thing happened to my girlfriend. The problem is that if a person does not know at least a little, and cannot argue, they are recorded.
