At the end of 2020, Apple introduced the new HomePod mini smart speaker, which offers great sound in combination with the Siri voice assistant for a relatively low price. Of course, the speaker natively understands the Apple Music service, while there is also support for other third-party streaming platforms, such as Deezer, iHeartRadio, TuneIn and Pandora. But as we all know, the king in the field of music is the Swedish giant Spotify. And it is he who, until now, simply does not understand the HomePod mini.

As for the Spotify service, it is still not integrated into the mentioned apple speaker. If we, as its users, would like to play some songs or podcasts, we will have to solve everything through AirPlay, which practically makes the HomePod mini just an ordinary Bluetooth speaker. But as it stands, Apple is quite possibly innocent in this. During the presentation itself, he clearly announced that he would add support for other streaming platforms in the future. The aforementioned services subsequently used this and integrated their solutions into the HomePod – except for Spotify. At the same time, it was speculated from the beginning whether it was only Spotify that didn't want to wait a little longer and come later. But now we've been waiting practically a year and a half and we haven't seen any changes.

Spotify support out of sight, users furious

From the beginning, there was a fairly extensive discussion among Apple users on the topic of HomePod mini and Spotify. But the months passed and the debate gradually died down, which is why most users today have come to terms with the fact that support simply disagrees. There is nothing to be surprised about. In October of last year, the media even leaked information that some Apple users had already lost patience and even completely canceled their subscriptions, or switched to competing platforms (led by Apple Music).

At the moment, there is no further information on whether or not we will see it at all, or when. It's quite possible that music giant Spotify itself refuses to bring support for HomePod mini. The company has a considerable dispute with Apple. It was Spotify that more than once presented complaints addressed to the Cupertino company for its anti-monopoly behavior in the market. Criticism was directed, for example, at fees for arranging payment. But then the absurd thing is that although the company now finally has the opportunity to provide its service to Apple users with HomePod, it still won't do it out of spite.
