We have to admit that too many games today describe one from the other. Although such a trend may not be completely obvious in the field of independent projects, some three-star productions consciously resist changes and only offer small adjustments to their formulas so that successful brands can benefit as long as possible. So it's refreshing to come across a game that isn't afraid to take a different approach to the medium. The developer of the new game Existensis does not hesitate to defy conventions and thus offers players a project that arose completely from his creative freedom.

Existensis is hard to pigeonhole into any existing genre. In the game, you will explore a beautifully hand-animated world. However, apart from simple jumping on the platforms, there is not much action waiting for you. Existensis is primarily about exploring said world and gaining artistic inspiration. The main character of the game "The Mayor" is a writer who searches in vain for the kiss of the muse. You will help him with this in fifteen different environments, in which you will meet countless interesting characters whose stories will intersect with yours.

You will reach the end of the game in about four hours. Depending on the order in which you explored the game world, you will then see one of fifteen possible endings, which will place your materialized magnum opus in the form of a huge tower in front of you. Existensis certainly doesn't look like a game for everyone, but we have to applaud the developer for having the courage to go to market with a skin and offer their own vision of what a philosophical game should look like.
