Analyst firm IDC published its quarterly report on worldwide PC sales. According to the report, the PC market is finally stabilizing, with sales declines significantly reduced and many manufacturers performing better than previous periods. According to IDC, Apple also had a very successful quarter, which for the first time entered the top five manufacturers with the best sales. He thus deposed the previous five, ASUS.

IDC originally predicted a drop in computer sales by another four percent, but according to available data, the reduction was only around 1,7 percent. In the same period last year, the decrease was almost 4,5 times. All five companies in the Top 5 improved, the biggest increase was recorded by Lenovo and Acer with more than 11 percent, Dell improved by almost 10 percent and Apple was not far behind with an almost nine percent increase. In the last three months, it should have sold almost five million personal computers. However, this is only an estimate, Apple will publish the exact numbers in two weeks. Other manufacturers, including the deposed Asus, on the other hand, suffered by less than 18 percent.

Apple continues to do well in its home market, in the United States it holds the third place among the most successful manufacturers, where sales of Macs make up almost half of the total volume of devices sold globally. Apple didn't see nearly as much growth in America as Acer (29,6%) or Dell (19,7%), but a 9,3 percent year-over-year increase helped it safely hold third place with a margin of 400 units sold ahead of fourth-placed Lenovo . HP and Dell continue to dominate the first and second places in the United States.

Despite the lower position in the sales ranking, Apple continues to have the majority share of the profit, which continues to be above fifty percent, mainly thanks to the high margins that other Apple manufacturers can only envy. IDC attributes the Californian company's move to fifth place globally to lower MacBook prices as well as greater interest in them in developed markets. Conversely, the entire industry should have been hurt by weak sales during "Back-To-School" events, which at other times boost sales thanks to attractive offers and student needs.

It was contrary to the IDC results report from another prestigious analyst firm, Gartner, which continues to attribute the fifth place in the global market to Asus. According to Gartner, the latter should have received 7,3 percent of total sales in the third quarter.
