Arkite may be a more interesting undertaking than many users originally thought. Excitement for this new technology (and the platform in general) has been building in recent weeks as more and more apps, demos and another demonstration of what will be possible with the help of augmented reality. However, we were still waiting to see what a larger development studio, or a giant that would be able to ensure adequate development, could do with this technology. The first signs appeared last night, and we can look at some of the demonstrations behind, for example, IKEA.

The Ikea app will allow users to place specific pieces of furniture in their room. With the help of augmented reality, it will be possible to "try on" how the given furniture will fit into the room. Ikea already offered something similar in its application, the new functionality should be significantly more sophisticated and useful. At the beginning, there should be approximately two thousand pieces of furniture in the application, and the number will grow happily. You can watch the demonstration in the video below.

The Food Network is behind another application, and in their implementation you can prepare various desserts in augmented reality according to previews, which you can subsequently edit, change, etc. After completion, it is possible to have a recipe prepared with a list of real ingredients that you will need for your assembled dessert. In this case, it is more of such nonsense, but it shows the potential of the service.

Another example shows a game called Arise for a change. It is essentially an interactive platformer whose environment is projected onto your surroundings. The video looks very interesting and could be a fun game.

AMC is behind the next game and it is nothing more than an AR version of Walking Dead. The application called Walking Dead: Our World will draw you into the world of zombies and characters from the popular series. Within the application, you will eliminate "real" zombies and cooperate with well-known characters from the series.

In addition to these videos, there are a few more that you can check out here. It's pretty clear that we'll be hearing a lot more about ARKit in the coming weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple devoted an entire panel to it at the September keynote. However, Tim Cook has been claiming for a long time that augmented reality will "another big thing".
