Personally, it happens to me quite often. We always sit at home and wonder which corner of our beautiful country we haven't seen yet. Recently, however, the Czech application Czech Film Trips by CzechTourism. She combines enthusiasm for film and tourism in a great way.
The Czech Film Trips application is such a smart guide for wandering around film locations in the Czech Republic. Imagine that, for example, you are watching a fairy tale in the evening There are no jokes with devils or Alois Nebel and you wonder where the movie was shot because you would like to visit that place. Normally, you would have to sit down at your computer and start Googling. Instead, I picked up my iPhone and launched Czech Film Trips.
The application not only showed me the filming locations, but in some cases also served up a complete trip plan, including the route, on a golden platter. I was recently on vacation in Adršpašské skály and thanks to the application I learned that a famous Czech fairy tale was filmed here The third prince. The very next day, according to the application, I followed in the footsteps of the actor Pavel Trávníček and discovered identical places that appeared in the film.
Czech Film Trips contains more than 300 film spots that you can visit in the Czech Republic. I dare to say that here you will find an almost complete database of the most successful and well-known Czech films. There is no shortage of examples in the selection Kolya, Chetnik humoresques, Postřižiny, Night at Karlštejn nor other well-known Czech fairy tales and films. The current database contains more than fifty films and more are gradually added.
Immediately after starting the application, you will get to a simple menu that offers a search for movie locations by region, i.e. by your current location or desired location, for example. You can also filter by your favorite movies or you can search for a specific movie trip. Each location is displayed on an interactive integrated map that you can work with immediately. Likewise, for each film you will find a more than detailed description and description of the entire film, including a short film preview and a gallery.
The possibility of creating your own movie library, sharing or popular check-ins, which most users know from the Swarm and Foursquare applications, is a pleasant user diversion. Personally, however, I like ready-made trips the most, and such a trip through the mountains with Alois Nebel is certainly more than tempting. It is interesting to see the same places that appeared in the film and experience the true genius loci for yourself. The application shows films only on the territory of the Czech Republic and it does not matter whether it was produced by a foreign or Czech production.
The application is completely in Czech and according to regular updates, it is still in the development phase. From a design point of view, you will occasionally come across a small error or the failure to display an image, but the essentials, i.e. searching for film locations, points and trips, works without the slightest problem. In addition, the application is completely free, without any in-app purchases.
