The second version of the operating system for the Apple Watch was supposed to be released last week along with iOS 9. Ultimately, however, the developers of the Californian company found a bug in the software that they didn't have time to fix, so watchOS 2 for apple watches is only now being released. It can be downloaded by all Watch owners.
This is the first major update for the watch operating system, which brings many new features. The most important one is called native third-party application support.
Until now, only Apple applications ran directly on the Watch, others were only "mirrored" from the iPhone, which mainly resulted in their slow start and operation. But now developers can finally send native applications to the App Store, which promise smoother running and greater possibilities.
Users will also see new third-party complications or custom watch faces in watchOS 2. The new feature is Time Travel, thanks to which you can look into the future and see what awaits you in the next hours.
To install watchOS 2, you need to update your iPhone to iOS 9, open the Watch app and download the update. Of course, both devices must be within Wi-Fi range, the Watch must have at least 50% battery charge and be connected to a charger.
Apple writes about watchOS 2:
This update brings new features and capabilities for users and developers, including the following:
- New watch faces and timekeeping functions.
- Siri enhancements.
- Improvements to the Activity and Exercise features.
- Improvements to the Music app.
- Reply to emails using dictation, emoticons and smart replies tailored specifically for email.
- Make and receive FaceTime audio calls.
- Support for Wi-Fi calls without the need to have an iPhone nearby (with participating operators).
- Activation Lock prevents your Apple Watch from being activated without entering your Apple ID and password.
- New options for developers.
- Support for new system languages - English (India), Finnish, Indonesian, Norwegian and Polish.
- Dictation support for English (Philippines, Ireland, South Africa), French (Belgium), German (Austria), Dutch (Belgium), and Spanish (Chile, Colombia).
- Support smart replies in English (New Zealand, Singapore), Danish, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Swedish, Thai and Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong, Taiwan).
Some features may not be available in all countries and regions.
This is a much better update when there are about 13 of us Apple watchers in the Czech Republic. :)
it still tells me that updates can't be found because I'm not online, so obviously their servers can't keep up anyway :) and I'm trying it via Wi-Fi and LTE
I'm already installing, but it's a good time... It's already taking an hour... :/
It downloaded for me all night and nothing in the morning... Now it only offers installation (not download and installation) and after a while it appears that an error occurred during the update and stop...
restart iphone and aw.
I let it download in the evening (there were about 5 hours of download left), and then when I woke up in the morning, they were updated and only on the iPhone it asked for the iCloud password, but after entering it, it didn't take it (probably the token expired), so I went to the Watch app on iOS and in General >> Apple ID, I logged in and everything works as it should. However, I see worse performance/response with the game Runeblade, it has a worse response by a few tens of milliseconds when clicking before any action is performed, with WatchOS 1.0.1 after clicking They responded immediately...
I solved it by restarting the iPhone…
do we have a watcher community? I would like to pick up some tips….
I wonder how many of us have AW :-D PS they broke mine about a day before the update, so it was an unpleasant surprise for me. All that remains is to go to Germany to complain :-D
I'd also be interested in that, but we'll have a joke :) there's a bit of discussion on macforum.
also on forum.iphone, there are already a few of us.

Am I the only one who sees in that screen that the update brings "complications in applications from independent developers"? :D
It measures calories even worse than before, and in the first 15 minutes alone, it got stuck and restarted twice... So disappointing so far.
I have it installed since yesterday. Downloaded in 30 minutes and installation took 25 minutes.

QUESTION Does anyone know of an application for the watch so that when I move away from the iPhone out of range, the watch vibrates? As I notice it, at least I keep leaving it in the car, etc. Only the red icon appears and that sucks, it doesn't alert me - thanks
MacID can do it on Mac + iPhone... There is also something about applewatch in the description, you have to look
