We waited years without exaggeration, but we finally got it. Tapbots has released a new version of their once popular Calcbot calculator for iPhones and iPads, which is finally adapted for the largest displays and also compatible with the latest iOS 8 operating system.

When I write years, I really don't exaggerate too much. Calcbot received the last update before the arrival of version 2.0 in September 2013, and even then it had problems keeping up with the latest trends. I have to admit that I personally liked the "robotic" calculator so much that it stayed on my main screen all these years, but I have to admit that it felt archaic.

Calcbot was not adapted even then to the larger display of the iPhone 5, let alone to the much larger screens of the iPhone 7s today. Likewise, Calcbot has not undergone any graphical makeover related to iOS XNUMX. All that has changed now that Tapbots has released a Calcbot worthy of the latest Apple devices. And on top of that, they crossed it with Convertbot.

In the new Calcbot, practically everything is the same as before, only everything matches and looks as you would expect in 2015. Perhaps the biggest surprise is that it is a universal application for iPhone and iPad, and above all, it is completely free to download. This is not at all usual for Tapbots applications, however, everything (in this sense, earnings for developers) is solved here through in-app purchases.

For two euros, you can also buy the function of the original Calcbot Convertbot, i.e. an application (which Tapbots also abandoned years ago) used to convert various units and currencies. Then, when you slide your finger across the command line from left to right, you will see the - also familiar - environment with the quantity converter.

The calculator itself is quite simple in Convertbot and you can have the calculation history displayed above the command line. These can be used differently in other examples or copied and sent. When you turn your iPhone to landscape, you also get advanced calculator features.

Even in the latest version of Calcbot, a very handy function remained, when you always see a complete expression under the result when calculating, so you can check whether you are entering the correct numbers. In short, anyone who has ever used Calcbot will find it nothing new.

And no one can be surprised by the new version of this calculator for iOS if they tried the Mac application of the same name introduced last year. It is a practically perfect copy. In addition, if you use Calcbot on multiple devices, you can synchronize your calculations via iCloud.
