It's rare for a game to blow your mind with its graphics, despite the fact that it doesn't use the most modern possible, photorealistic visuals. One of the rare cases of such a situation is undoubtedly the action platformer Cuphead from MDHR Entertainment. In 2017, she brought a proper mug of an unusually stylish cocktail to the world of the game industry.

Cuphead is inspired by classic cartoons from the 1930s. The characteristic swinging animation of the hand-drawn characters is reminiscent of, for example, the very first cartoons with Mickey Mouse. The unifying style is also beautifully complemented by the jazz soundtrack and the watercolor background. The game even gives you the option to turn on or off the film grain filter, which makes Cuphead almost indistinguishable from the cartoons of the era. But what at first glance seems to be fun for the little ones, is deceiving the body.

Cuphead managed to build a reputation as an extremely difficult platformer shortly after its release. However, the truth is somewhere else. While the game won't get you very far on your first try, its trickiness lies mainly in learning the simple rhythms of enemies. Even the hardest bosses have predictable patterns of behavior in the game. But if you are still afraid to jump into the game alone, you can take someone else with you and enjoy the fun in a great cooperative mode.
