So-called music streaming platforms clearly dominate these days. For a monthly fee, you will have access to an incredibly extensive music library and you can immerse yourself in listening to your most popular artists, albums, stock or even specific playlists. In addition, these services launched other platforms - everything started with music, until streaming video content (Netflix,  TV+, HBO MAX) or even gaming (GeForce NOW, Xbox Cloud Gaming) became the norm.

In the world of music streaming services, we find many players who provide quality services. The world number one is the Swedish company Spotify, which enjoys considerable popularity. But Apple also has its own platform called Apple Music. But let's pour some pure wine, Apple Music along with other providers are often hidden in the shadow of the aforementioned Spotify. Even so, the Cupertino giant can boast. His platform is growing by millions of new subscribers every year.

Apple Music is experiencing growth

The service segment plays an increasingly important role for Apple. It generates bigger profits year after year, which is extremely important for the company as such. In addition to the music platform, it also offers the game service Apple Arcade, iCloud, Apple TV+, and abroad Apple News+ and Apple Fitness+ are also available. In addition, as we mentioned above, the number of Apple Music subscribers grows by literally millions more every year. While in 2015 "only" 11 million apple growers paid for the service, in 2021 it was about 88 million. So the difference is quite fundamental and clearly shows what people are interested in.

At first glance, Apple Music definitely has a lot to brag about. It has a fairly solid subscriber base that can more or less be expected to grow even more in the coming years. Compared to the competing Spotify service, however, it is a "little thing". As we mentioned above, Spotify is the absolute number one in the game streaming platform market. The number of subscribers also clearly indicates this. Already in 2015, it was 77 million, which is practically comparable to what Apple had to build for its service over the years. Since then, even Spotify has moved several levels forward. In 2021, this number had already more than doubled, i.e. 165 million users, which clearly indicates its dominance.

Spotify still leads

The number of subscribers mentioned above clearly shows why Spotify is the world leader. In addition, it maintains its primacy for a long time, while Apple Music is only in second place, with competitor Amazon Music still breathing down its neck. Although the Cupertino giant has recently significantly improved its music service - by implementing lossless and surround sound - it still failed to convince other users to switch here. For a change, Spotify is miles ahead in terms of practicality. Thanks to sophisticated algorithms, it recommends great playlists, which significantly outpaces all its competition. The annual Spotify Wrapped review is also hugely popular among subscribers. People will thus get a detailed overview of what they listened to the most over the past year, which they can also quickly share with their friends.
