Adobe Photoshop Touch is one of the most capable Adobe apps for iOS, at least when it comes to working with images. It can adjust brightness, contrast, color balance, etc., as well as retouch and combine multiple photos. However, next week, May 28 to be exact, it will disappear from the App Store.

The reason for this is a change in Adobe's strategy. While Touch is a fairly complex application with many functions, the company's other iOS applications are much simpler - this allows them not only to be easier to use, but also less prone to errors.

Over the past year, Adobe has also built a comprehensive ecosystem of cross-platform applications, all of which are connected to Adobe Creative Cloud and therefore able to complement each other. Photoshop Touch simply does not fit this strategy. However, it will still remain functional for those who purchased and backed it up, it just won't get any more updates.

Instead of further developing the "heavy-handed" Photoshop Touch, Adobe will focus on improving its simpler iOS applications such as Photoshop Mix, Photoshop Sketch, Adobe Comp CC, Adobe Shape CC, etc.

You should also not have to wait too long for a new application that will replace the canceled Touch, or replaces some of its functions. It's currently known as "Project Rigel," and Adobe product manager Bryan O'Neil Hughes shared a short video showing it being able to open and work with a 50MP photo on an iPad at desktop-like speeds. The adjustments made include retouching, removing and replacing selected objects, replacing colors, applying filters and more.

Photoshop Touch is available in the App Store for 10 euros for iPad and 5 euros for iPhone, but replacement applications should be available for free. The user will only have to pay if he wants to use Adobe Creative Cloud.
