Peter Binder Today we will introduce a handy application called PhoneCopy, thanks to which we can easily back up our contacts in iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad and thus avoid unfortunate situations associated with the loss of all contacts.
First, let's introduce the application a bit. PhoneCopy is originally a Czech application created by the e-FRACTAL development team. Which is certainly a big advantage, not only because of the Czech language. PhoneCopy first appeared on the App Store on July 25, 2010 and is completely free.

After downloading from the App Store and subsequently when starting the application for the first time, it is necessary for the user to create a backup account. This can be done directly in the application and it is only a matter of time. Just enter your username with password, e-mail and copy the authorization code. After the account is created, just press the "Synchronization" button to backup your contacts and it's done in a few seconds.
You now have your contacts backed up on the website www.phonecopy.com. If you lose your contacts, e.g. by losing your phone, all you have to do is install the PhoneCopy application on your device, let it synchronize, and you'll have your phone numbers back.

To view and edit your backup, you need to visit the page mentioned above and log in to the account you created. After logging in, a graph with the date of the backup will be displayed, as well as, for example, the number of contacts and the name of your device.
To edit contacts, simply click on "Contacts". Now you can edit or add numbers, names, etc. by phone. However, I would like to point out that if you make any changes, it will be reflected in the contacts on the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad after the next synchronization.
In addition to backing up contacts, PhoneCopy also offers other data such as a calendar, etc. However, these are not yet available, but the developers promise that they will be available later on iOS 4 (mainly the calendar).
I rate the application very positively, transferring contacts is very fast, the application is designed as simply as possible, there is no possibility of making a mistake, and in addition, if you do not know how to do something, then on the page iphone.phonecopy.com you will find a comprehensive how-to guide for this application.

For example, when you get lucky and your entire disk or system crashes and you need to format the disk and clean install. Then a backup of contacts in iTunes is of no use to you...

For me, iP synchronizes with the address book for Mac. My iPhone crashed once, so I restored it, but not from a backup - a normal clean installation. Then I ticked in itunes that I want my contacts to be synchronized.. HOW EASY!!

Such an application is tempting at first glance, but on the other hand, you put your personal contacts somewhere and you don't know where and what will happen to them. What is the guarantee that they will not be sold to spammers?

In essence, we would immediately destroy everything we have developed and built for a long time, and the single-purposeness of such a step is probably clear to everyone. Phonecopy is not only for iPhone, but synchronizes with other 400 mobile phone models from several manufacturers.

As a Macaron, of course I have my synchronization with Mac and it's fine, but one day I'll be without a Mac, iPhone will be in trouble and I'll be able to access my contacts this way on the web. It seems pointless to me. I back up contacts via Exchange with Google. For example, when I add a new email address to a contact on my iPhone, I can immediately write an email on it from the Mac and the manual step of synchronization is omitted.
Or if you accidentally delete a contact, you will lose it. There are really several methods, this is one of the possibilities.

First of all, why should I share my contacts with some foreign server that who knows how long it will work... and secondly - if I'm worried about my data on the iPhone, maybe it's a good idea to back up the file from iTunes synchronization or even the stupid gmail omg !

I haven't fully tested their app, but as far as I know they support a lot less models and I believe we have more intuitive controls as well. They also don't support iPhone and it's an app only for CZ O2 customers. We also have SMS backups for symbians, we keep all changes and an archive of deleted contacts, we offer synchronization with Google Calendar or we also synchronize photos that you have in your contacts, etc. On the contrary, objectively, they have configuration SMSs, which we have not yet implemented due to unreliable delivery (we have clients from more than 80 countries and in many of them SMS messages were lost). And I believe that we will be more flexible and thanks to the new functions that we are gradually adding, we will also convince you without having to pay you for using the application. . :)

It's certainly an interesting application, but there are a lot of similar ones for the iPhone. But personally, I don't use anything like that - I automatically back up to the Mac when the device is synchronized, and it is then backed up to its own server (in case the computer burns down). In addition, I still have my contacts (and calendar) synchronized with Gmail (online), so if I forget my phone, they are available basically from anywhere there is an internet connection. Not to mention the fact that Google is more reliable for me and I would still have the contacts saved there to send an e-mail.
An impeccable thing and especially for Apple. iPhones have great controls, but if Vista data could be put into them, they would be mega perfect. I recommend backing up Apple products - I already have five iPhones and they are ordinary Chinese shit. But I stop, there is not much competition. Samsung is really only for the poor - refrigerator manufacturers are conquering the world!
