Yesterday, the first Foursquare day took place in Prague, which somewhat unexpectedly turned into an iPad day. Some lucky ones brought their iPads to show off, and everyone present wanted to take a look. But Petr Mára took everyone's breath away, he brought a prototype of the Microsoft Courier tablet!
Okay, I'm kidding, it wasn't Microsoft Courier, but Petr Mára is definitely the first Czech to be photographed with two iPads at once! :) Foursquare was supposed to be the main topic of the late afternoon, but in the end everyone was interested in what the iPad looks like, how heavy it is, how to work with it and what interesting applications Petr Mára has installed.
I have to say that I was surprised that even many of the original "opponents" of the iPad ended up liking the iPad and might even think about buying one. However, some people found the iPad quite heavy after using it for a short time. Especially for those who have tried playing a racing game and thus had to hold the iPad in their hand the entire ride. The iPad's display is great and makes an Apple fan's heart skip a beat when playing with it. It looks even better in real life than in the promo photos. As you can see in the photo, there were queues for the iPad all afternoon, everyone wanted to hold it at least for a while! :)
If I were to evaluate Foursquare Day as such, I have to say that it met my expectations and I met some interesting people. Michal Bláha (OnTheRoad.to) also showed me their latest iPhone creation, which you will be able to touch in a few days. I really liked the app and can't wait to try it out on my iPhone.
Photos from today's Foursquare Day were sent to me by Jirka Chomát, whose photo website is at JirkaChomat.cz I can only recommend you! Alternatively, check out his Posterous blog at vycvak.jirkachomat.cz, where you can find more photos from today's successful Foursquare event!
If you are hearing about Foursquare for the first time today, start Google and find out more information. This is another social network, this time with an emphasis on geolocation. Foursquare is gaining popularity at the moment, and I will definitely look at the Foursquare iPhone app in one of the future articles.
Special thanks to @matesola, which us to @comorestaurant let go and prepared such a wonderful treat for us! Thanks!
This is news like thunder, Petr Mára is the only Czech who was photographed with two iPads. Just go on.
It's Friday, a lighter topic won't hurt.. :)
how did peter order an ipad from us? how much did you send him? I would be quite interested in the process if Apple postponed the start of sales in other countries, including the EU
Someone bought it for him in the states and brought it, so there you go :)
thanks for the info, I was also planning it that way, but in the end the trip to the US was canceled :(
Today I ordered and paid for the 32GB version, it came out to plus/minus 11800 KC (including US tax, which surprised me, it probably didn't pay ;-) yes, the communist rules there, so it goes from ten to five there), then, of course, the fee for forwarding to CR, post office to CR, and VAT at the customs according to the price I will state there. I can then write something about it and it will arrive in two weeks... I am waiting for the costs of 11800+250 (forwarding)+700 (postage)+about 2000 (Czech VAT)... I paid with a Czech credit card without any problems.
Each state has a different tax, if you ordered from CA, for example, I think it would be zero, at least I set up an iTunes account to an address in CA precisely because there was zero tax
Be sure to let us know how you got on, how much it cost in the end, or how it went at customs
do you think that if they saw a lower price, that you would also pay lower VAT? :)
As far as I have experience, I use a locker in CA and there was never a single day. I just made a purchase at the apple store, when I sent it to CA she blew the tax on me like a thunderbolt, in the end I used the box in Colorado, and she sent me the tax for $23, which is relatively cool (to CA it's $56!). As far as I know, the tax is non-refundable (it is simply non-refundable), so it is paid in the USA and then at home. As far back as I have experience, I have always paid VAT on the price stated in the declaration (I stated 5000 CZK and the goods were for 15, twice I paid VAT on the lower price, once I paid nothing, I don't know why ;-) Customs is never paid for personal purchase.
This reminds me of the days when the whole village went to see what color television looked like. that's grease, in 2010.
The lecturing gentleman in the bright suit looks a bit like Lars Rasmussen, don't you think? :-)
Ah, that's the boss :-).
exactly! :)
"You have a really interesting blog. Too many blogs that I see now don't genuinely provide something that I'm interested in, but I'm definitely interested in this one. Just thought that I'd pass that message on. "
