Oborová zdravotno pojišťovna introduced a new allowance for the purchase of a smart watch capable of recording an EKG. It is the first and only health insurance company in the Czech Republic to offer such a contribution, and it is also one of the first in the world. PWD allows its clients to have their ECG recorded online evaluated by a certified cardiologist for free. Since the launch of this system in June, she has already advised five of her clients to quickly find a cardiologist based on this record.

"Wearable electronics will be a completely normal part of medicine within a few years. I am glad that Oborová zdravotno pojišťovna can greatly help the expansion of this trend, because it brings clear positives - after the first three months of operation of the system, it is confirmed that the ECG from the watch can provide life-saving information." says Radovan Kouřil, CEO of Oborová zdravotno pojišťovna.

OZP has therefore decided to contribute to the purchase of a watch capable of recording an EKG for its clients.

"Currently, only one such watch is available on the Czech market, namely the Apple Watch 4 and 5; in addition, their phone application has the necessary certification. In addition to the contribution, we also managed to secure a seven percent discount for our clients on these watches at a partner retailer SmartyCZ, “ points out OZP's commercial director Miloslava Lukešová and adds that OZP expects that in the future the contribution will also apply to other similar devices as soon as they are commonly available on the Czech market.

The amount of the contribution to the Apple Watch series four and five is individual. It depends on the current number of bonus credits of each client of the insurance company. PWD credits, for example, when the client checks his health care statement, for continuous updating of the client's online health profile, for preventive visits to the dentist, for light sports in action www.kazdykrokpomaha.cz or for example for donating blood. PWD clients can freely send credits to each other and their upper amount is not limited. In practice, last year, for example, OZP donated more than CZK 9 to one client for the purchase of braces.

Using the ECG recording from the watch, it is possible to detect atrial fibrillation in particular. The latter is a relatively widespread disease, which, however, is difficult to detect in the early stages during a conventional examination, either by a cardiologist or by all-day monitoring using an EKG Holter. Initially, the disease manifests itself sporadically and may not appear at the time of the examination. However, if the client has a smart watch on his hand, which he wears for other reasons than just checking the ECG, he can turn on the recording at the very moment when he feels difficulties. And if a certified cardiologist confirms a possible problem, it is possible to start solving the disease very early, at a stage when the treatment is even easier, friendlier for the client and also cheaper for the healthcare system.

Clients with PWDs can have up to five recorded ECG curves per month checked by a doctor. As part of the pilot operation of the system, MDT-Medical Data Transfer covers the costs of examinations, the International Center for Telemedicine and PWD provides the infrastructure for them in the form of its mVitakarta application and the Health Assistant assistance service.

The mobile version of VITAKARTA offers a number of advanced medical functions. In addition to EKG evaluation, it is also, for example, robotic detection of potentially inappropriate drug combinations. VITAKARTA handles this fully automatically, without the user having to manually enter the list of their medications into the application, thanks to the fact that VITAKARTA is directly connected to the internal information system of the Oborová zdravotno pojišťovna, which records payments for prescription drugs; it is possible to manually add over-the-counter medicines purchased at the pharmacy to the VITAKARTA. In addition, the application allows, for example, to securely store data from medical examinations.

Over 450 clients of Oborová zdravotno pojišťovna are registered in the VITAKARTA application, so 000 out of 6 clients of the insurance company already have it. Over 10 people have installed the mobile application on their phones, roughly 53 on iOS. About a quarter of a million disabled clients work actively with VITAKARTA.

VITAKATU can be used to check health care expenses and pay for health insurance. Through it, PWD clients also have their contributions from the Prevention Fund reimbursed, when all they need to do is take a photo of proof of payment of the benefit, for example vaccinations, swimming pool passes or receipts for glasses. In addition, OZP enables its clients via VITAKART, for example, to evaluate their doctors in non-medical parameters, such as the friendliness and clarity of communication between doctor and nurse or the environment of the doctor's office and waiting room.

The application to Oborová zdravotno pojišťovna is also completely electronic. This can be filled out in less than a minute www.chcidoozp.cz, while the PWD arranges all the formalities associated with the client's arrival at the PWD itself.
