Much to the surprise of many, Apple announced at today's keynote that the latest Mac operating system, OS X 10.9 Mavericks, will be available for free download today. Mavericks just appeared in the Mac App Store as an update, so you can start installing right away. The installation file takes up 5,29 GB, so make sure you have enough space on your computer.
OS X Mavericks is available for iMacs 2007 and later, MacBook Pros 2007 and later, all MacBook Airs, white MacBooks, Mac Pros 2008 and later, and Mac minis 2009 and later.

Does anyone have any experience with this OS?
Can you advise me if I should replace my existing Lion OS with it?
Definitely yes, Lion was the worst of the recent versions, I would compare Mavericks to Snow Leopard.
So you don't expect any problems? :-)
So iOS 7 was quite a disaster. As for stability, the ugly design.
Hasn't the design changed to that of iOS7?
Well, the server has already collapsed. They say it will take me two days to download :-S
2,55 GB downloaded so far
I would also be interested in feedback, because after the fiasco with iOS7, I don't want to immediately do the same stupid thing on MAC :-).
If you're using Mountain Lion, I wouldn't worry about it, I updated and except for the new Maps and the iBooks, you won't notice the change more or less. Yes, upon closer examination, the calendar is nicer and you can already respond to notifications, otherwise everything is in the bowels of the system :)
I have it updated. So far, I perceive cosmetic details as positive. But what bothered me was that Mail couldn't sync with Gmail... a large part of the messages are missing - some folders are completely empty (sent 3, received 5...). I can find those messages in the "all" folder. I also tried to delete the account and reassign Gmail (I archive messages on Gmail) but nothing...they didn't download. It's enough for me to fart when I go exclusively through the email client...:-( If anyone has a similar experience and knows what to do with it, I'd be happy for a tip. :-) (This state has been going on for several hours... so it shouldn't be that )
I use email (gmail) only on the Web, so I don't have a problem with that. I decided to update only after I complete all the necessary backups, so in a week or 14 days.
Of course, I quickly got him there and immediately installed the ML patches
Why did you install backwards?
Hello, I bought a Macbook Air (2013) with Lion about a month ago. I would like to ask if I download Mavericks if they can download the keynote, pages and numbers applications for free .. thank you. (now it's paid on Lion).
they go :)
Hello, how do I choose a clean install…….. I download and it asks me if it is an upgrade or a new installation?
What about the data please? I have an MBA for a while and I don't know much about it yet. … I'm low on disk space there and the new system is 6GB. Does this mean that the old system will be overwritten, then I will delete the installer and not lose any additional space? or will I lose another 6GB of space? Thanks for the info.
Hello, can someone answer me please? :)
Hello, I may have a stupid question, but it's quite important to me. I won't lose my data during the upgrade, right? Or does it format the entire hdd and install anew?
Hello, I have an annoying problem with this update. I just updated Mavericks, on my 4S also some improved version of iOS 7 and last night I wanted to add new songs to my phone. However, when I connected it to the computer, all the songs gradually disappeared from it and only the purchased ones remained. At first they were just gray and unplayable, and now they're not there at all, even though they're normally there in iTunes on the computer. Same thing with movies and now I don't know what to do with it. Would someone please advise me?
