For some time now, there has been lively speculation about how Apple is preparing a durable Apple Watch. However, if the company excels at anything, it's in advertising, which we've known since the eponymous 1984, which should have alerted the world to the Macintosh computer, but didn't even show it. Now, there's a new ad showing just how durable the Apple Watch Series 7 is.

The ad is called Hard Knockks and demonstrates what the current series of watches can "survive". Its users are present in it, who engage in regular and extreme sports with it, but also just live with them normally (which is clearly shown by the child flushing the Apple Watch into the toilet bowl). The ad ends with the slogan "the most durable Apple Watch ever", so we wonder if it is actually necessary for Apple to introduce another more durable version of them.

It can withstand a lot

If it was just the wishful thinking of users, the situation would be different, but leading analysts such as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and others are also reporting on the upcoming durable version of the Apple Watch. We should expect them in the fall of this year together with the Apple Watch Series 8 (in theory, of course). After all, you can read more in our article.

But with just the published advertisement, Apple clearly signals that we don't actually need a more durable Apple Watch. It is often mentioned that the durable Apple Watch will be used primarily by extreme athletes. The problem is that compared to recreational ones, there are disproportionately fewer of them, and does it really make sense to make an exclusive model for them, when the Apple Watch Series 7 itself can withstand so much? They don't mind dust, water or shocks. They have the most durable construction and glass, when we probably won't find anything of better quality in smart watches across the market. Their only weakness can be mainly two things.

Water resistance and aluminum

One is greater water resistance, which would prevent water ingress even at higher pressures. Not so much when diving, because who among mere mortals actually dives to any greater depths, and if so, does he really need to wear an Apple Watch? It is more about water spraying with a certain pressure. The second weakness of the Apple Watch is its aluminum case. Even though the steel ones are of course more durable, people also most often buy the aluminum versions for financial reasons.

The problem with aluminum is that it is soft, so it can scratch easily. But because it is soft, it will not happen to you again that it would crack. It may have some unsightly scars, but that's all. The most susceptible is the display, which we bang on door frames, bang on stucco walls, etc. But if Apple redesigned the case, which would be straighter just like the iPhone 12 and 13, the display would not have to be curved and would be covered by frames. So Apple wouldn't actually have to come up with a special durable generation, but it would just be enough to redesign the existing one.

It could still be made of aluminum, despite the fact that there is speculation about various mixtures of fine resin supplemented with carbon fiber. So we wouldn't necessarily have to get rid of this material. After all, even Apple itself will not want it, because this material fits perfectly into its green future, where it is easy to recycle.
