Popular host Oprah Winfrey has pulled out of an upcoming documentary for the Apple TV+ streaming service. The documentary is supposed to deal with the issue of sexual violence and harassment in the music industry, and Apple informed the public about it at the end of last year. The program was supposed to be broadcast this year.

In a statement to the Hollywood Reporter, Oprah Winfrey said that she had stepped down from her position as an executive producer on the project, and that the documentary would ultimately not be released on Apple TV+ at all. She cited creative differences as the reason. According to her statement to the Hollywood Reporter, she was involved in the whole project only late in its development and did not agree with what the film eventually turned into.

In a statement, Oprah Winfrey expressed her full support for victims of abuse, adding that she decided to withdraw from the documentary because she felt it would adequately cover the issue:"First of all, I want it to be known that I unequivocally believe in women and support them. Their stories deserve to be told and heard. In my opinion, more work needs to be done on the film to illuminate the full extent of what the victims went through, and it turns out that I am at odds with the filmmakers on that creative vision." Oprah said.

The documentary is currently scheduled to screen at the end of January at the Sundance Film Festival. The makers of the film then released their own official statement indicating that they would continue to release the film without Oprah's involvement. This is already the second canceled premiere of the show intended for Apple TV+. The first was the film The Banker, which was first withdrawn from the program of the AFI festival. In the case of the film, Apple said it needed time to investigate allegations of sexual abuse involving the son of one of the characters portrayed in the film. The company promised to issue a statement as soon as it has information about the future of the film.

Oprah Winfrey collaborates with Apple in more ways than one and is involved in more projects. One of them is, for example, Book Club with Oprah, which can currently be watched on Apple TV+. The company has already announced in the past that it is working with the presenter on a documentary called Toxic Labor about workplace harassment and an untitled documentary about mental health. The latter program is also created in collaboration with Prince Harry and will feature, for example, the singer Lady Gaga.
