The second quarter of the year is usually - as far as sales are concerned - rather weaker. The reason is mainly the expectation of new Apple smartphone models, which usually arrive in September. But this year is an exception in this regard - at least in the United States. iPhones are attacking the top of the sales charts here and in this period as well.

According to a report published on Counterpoint's website, iPhones are maintaining their popularity in the United States even in the usually "poorer" second quarter. The aforementioned report focuses primarily on online sales, but iPhones sell well outside of online sales as well. According to Counterpoint, apple.com did not experience the initially expected decline in online sales. Among online smartphone retailers, it ranked fourth with 8%, followed by popular Amazon with 23%, followed by Verizon (12%) and Best Buy (9%). The report also shows, among other things, that more premium smartphones are sold online than in brick-and-mortar stores.

But the global numbers are a bit different. Not so long ago, the conclusions of the analyzes were published, proving that in the global sales of smartphones for the second quarter of this year, Apple fell to the second place. Samsung reigns supreme, followed by Huawei. Huawei managed to sell 54,2 million units of smartphones in the given quarter, gaining a 15,8% share. It was the first time since 2010 that Apple ranked lower than first or second. In the second quarter of this year, Apple sold "only" 41,3 million smartphones, compared to 41 million in the same quarter last year - but Huawei sold 38,5 million smartphones in the second quarter of last year.
